BMR is Basal Metabolic Rate, which means it's the baseline for your body to function before you count exercise. If you're using MFP's method, it expects you to eat back your calories, so that your NET calories do not fall below that BMR.

Day-to-day totals are somewhat less important than weekly totals, so 'saving up for the vodka/diet colas' shouldn't adversely impact your progress (although alcohol can slow weight loss to some small degree).

There are several folks who distrust the exercise calories burned as given on MFP, and thus suggest eating back only 50% - 75% of those calories; provided you're eating back enough calories to land between BMR and TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), you should be fine.

As always, make adjustments as you go along, depending on how your progress is going.
