Support Buddies

Hello my name is Mary. I'm barely introducing myself to MFP. I joined on Jan. 9th, 2014 at 264 lbs. at present March 30th I weigh 227.4 lbs. Before joining I use to weigh 298 lbs. and lost down to 264. Then I was told about MFP and I think it's a great tool, the food diary and your posts have been most helpful. I hope to gain some buddies for support. So far I've lost all together 70 lbs. and 36.6 of that on MFP. I hope we can all continue on this positive journey together. You have my support as well.

  • Well I have a problem, I went to see my nutritionist on 4-2-14 and she told me that she needed to up my calories. I use to be on 1200 calories a day, now she wants to up it to 1500 calories. I am worried about gaining. I was 228 lbs. on the day I went to see her, then dropped to 226.6 lbs on 4-4, now since I started the 1500 calorie diet I have gained weight to 230.0 lbs. The reason why she upped my calories is because I'm having gastric bypass surgery in May. If my BMI goes down to 35 they won't do the surgery because of insurance requirements. The reason why I'm having a bypass is not to lose weight but to help with a health issue I have which is gastroparesis. Basically my stomach isn't digesting food normally it is only working at 15% and normal function is 50-80%. I have a lot of restrictions on what I eat and I get very sick at times because of the gastroparesis, so when I have the surgery my illness would go away. I worked hard in losing my 71 lbs. by changing my eating habits and exercising, and now will I continue to lose weight or will my body adjust to the calorie increase and lose or will I maintain? I forgot to ask the nutritionist anybody know the answer?:frown: :frown:
