Not seeing results need advice.

Hey guys I need some help or motivation. Im not sure what Im doing wrong or if Im being impatient. Im 5'4 was 160 but now Im 155 some days and 157 others. I work out 5x a week at the gym and wear a heart rate monitor to keep track of calories. If I am unable to go to the gym I try doing some cardio/weights at home. I count all my calories, weigh my food ect. I have been eating healthier than what I used to eat. Maybe not eating health enough? I eat about 1200 calories a day. Try to not eat past 9pm. It hard when you work at night. Am I not eating enough? I feel like if I keep eating Im not going to lose any weight. Because I am an impatient person and not seeing results Im becoming discourage. I just need advice or encouragement. Thanks guys!

Working out 5x a week and eating 1200 cals? Are you eating back some of your exercise calories?

Just as an example I am 5'4 and workout 5x a week for about 30 minutes and eat 1600-1650 and am losing 1/2 to 3/4 pound a week. If you are weighing your food and eating at a deficit you should be losing weight. What you eat doesn't necessarily matter as long as you are under your burn.

Yep... I think you should probably be eating more. I'm 5'2, work out 7 times a week and I eat a minimum of 1500cal/day. Typically lose 1/2-1lb each week.

Sounds like you're not eating enough, also it doesn't matter what time of day or night you eat.

Am I the only one actually looking at her diary?

    You're not logging accurately.

1.) You use quick add calories. A lot.
2.) An HRM is useless for weight workouts.

So yeah, you have no idea what you are eating or burning. Fix that, reassess in a few weeks.
  • I am having the same problem and it's frustrating. Some days I am under my 1200 calorie allotment. I feel guilty if I eat more though. It made me feel better to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. Thank you.

It sounds like you are over doing it, maybe a little more eating and a little less exercise...1,200 is good but you need to eat more if you are working out. I go to the gym 5 days a week and I try to eat 1,500 but sometimes I don't and I am also having trouble losing pounds...You need get that metabolism going with more small meals during the day...hope this helps.

are all the quick added calories accurate or are you just guessing. quick added calories are fine to use occasionally, but remember you don't get an accurate reading of your macro's when you use them. maybe you are over on your sodium or your sugar?? you don't know that but you need to find out.

Quick Add calories all over the place. Your logging is a mess and you've only been doing it 2-3 weeks. You're probably eating way more than you think you are.

    Guilty as charged!

OP listen to the above, you need to know what you're actually eating.

not enough calories. This low of cals over a period of time will cause your metabolic rate to drop ( how many cals you burn a day ) Your body wants to live and needs cals to do so. So when you do not eat enough it stops burning fat and start saving all it can.

make sure to have a high cal cheat meal once a week. Eat at least 1500 cals is my advice

Oh, and OP, it doesn't matter what time you eat. Plenty of people on here are successful and still eat after 9pm.

Weigh and measure every little bit of food that goes in your mouth. Quick add calories are not accurate. Makes sure you are getting an accurate calorie burn with your HRM. It's not accurate for anything really beyond steady cardio so don't use it for strength training unless you feel it's absolutely necessary. Personally I don't see you burning over a thousand calories in two hours, but that's just my opinion. Even going hard on my elliptical for an hour and a half doesn't give me over six hundred calories.

Cut out the quick add calories. You aren't getting a good estimation of your calorie burn and your calories in. Try to be consistent with weighing/measuring food for a month and tracking calories burned and you should see some results.

are you drinking enough water? probably not. I am 5'4 and eat 1200 i workout 5 days a week and sometimes do not eat back my calories you dont really have to but if i went over in my meal a little theni feel ok. . Dont do quick add. use your scanner if you can. you could eat healthier items and be more full on less calories. have a cheat day but dont go over board. i only started seeing results when i drank more water and the days i dont drink enough or little at all i weigh more. also when you do quick add like on april 4, you cant tell the rest of your levels sugar sodium carbs thats all very important! you should be drinking a minimum of 60 oz of water a day. or fluids. and it takes up to four weeks to see results. "sometimes" do it accurately and it does work

Nope, I looked and was about to come and post the same thing.

    Stop using quick add calories.
Weigh and measure all of your food.
Log all of it, every single bite, every single day.

    And be patient.

I'll leave the OP with this priceless piece of wisdom:

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1234699-logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide

Edited because genuine graciousness can sometimes be confused as sarcasm. :flowerforyou:
  • If you're working out five times a week, you need to intake like 1600 every day depending on your burns and stuff. If you're burning 400 you need to net 1200. It can be hard, it's sometimes really hard for me to eat enough, but if you don't eat enough you can send your body into starvation mode and you won't burn fat or build muscle. Drink like 70-80oz of water a day, too.

Make sure you're getting good protein for your lift days, as well, so track that on MFP, don't just quick add.

I've consistently lost working out an hour every day, gentle cardio on "rest" days, and eating 1600 calories a day. I usually net between 1200 and 1400 and I lose abound a pound every week, which I think is really good. I also eat treats and stuff but I log everything.

And yeah, don't quick add too much or ever.~ You need to know what you're putting in there.
