Hello I'm training for a run in May 6.5 miles.. I have tried c25k and other ones, they just don't work for me. So I started running half mile 3 days a week. Each week I keep adding half mile each week. So far it seems to be working.
Tell me how your runs are going.

Today I ran 6.5 miles by running a half mile and then walking keep repeating until I reached 6.5 miles. It was a good run but the wind sucked. But I did it......0

Today is my rest day0

Attempting to start running. I also don't do well with the c25k. Went out this weekend. 3 miles in 44 mins some odd seconds, walking. Averaged out to 14 minutes 28 seconds per mile. Not to shabby for walking I don't believe. I have yoga today, weights tomorrow then walking/running again Wednesday.0

Well I ended up getting sucked into school work until nearly 10 last night so yesterday turned into my rest say. Today yoga, tomorrow walk then weights Thursday0

I've done C25K in the past and it's worked fine for me - but I started it up again the other day and WOW was I sore! I live at altitude now (which I didn't used to), but I've been here over a year and am pretty well acclimated. Gym workouts are definitely workouts, but they're doable. I thought the change from running in suffocating humidity to fresh drier air would make the run easier but it definitely did not. Might stick with the gym a little while longer before trying again.0

I'm doing my run tonight. I was doing the C210k. But I switched to running 1/2 mile and walking and keep switching back and forth until I reach 5.5 miles. When I feel I'm ready I will up it to a mile and walk a mile and so forth.0

Ive been running for 3 months, did the c25k and now 1/2 way through beginners 10k. I have 10k booked for July...although not fancying the idea of running in the heat. Plans dont work for everyone, its good discipline for me and the 10k beginners has started to introduce some different training like tempo runs, fartlek (random intervals) and progression runs. Im slow but I love it. Currently run 5k x 2 a week and a longer run once a week...around 3.5-4miles. Nothng wrong with walk breaks, the Hal Higdon method has this for everyhting up to marathon0

I didn't do the c25k either. I started very much like you did. What I have found to help get that 1 mile marker for running is to ad .10 miles to it the next run. It is a challenge, but your body responds quickly.
Example: .5 mile run, than next time out .60 miles run, then .70 miles ect. I also did walk breaks between. Walk might be .10 to .25. Then run again. I found that within a week to 2 weeks the mile was still tough but do able for running entirely. Once you get to that 2 mile mark, walking almost isn't necessary anymore. Usually the 1st 2 miles are the toughest.
Best of luck to you all. Keep running and smiling.0 -
totally agree the hardest bit is getting to run continuously for 10-20mins...and i dont think it gets any easier...but after that now my body settles into 'hard but doable' instead of just 'STOP!!' mode Ran 5k in 40mins 52 secs today, beat my pb by 33 seconds oh yeah0

I'm up to 4.4 miles a day. today is my week I go up, but i'm only going up to 4.6 miles. I'm training for 10Ks starting next year. I am still doing a 5K a month now but those just seem like a walk in the park now. I just do them for fun. hopefully after doing 10Ks 15Ks will be soon after, then half marathons.0

btw my fastest offical time for a 5K is 30:00 but my watch said 29:43 but what ever.0

Tonight I just ran 3.5 miles. It started to ran so I got a ride home. But I figured that I'm already am battling a cold. But I did change up my run a little.0
