exercise calories

New to all this - got my calorie goal for the day but when I input exercise which I generally do every day at gym it gives me calories I've earned - surely I don't eat the calories I've just burned off - help I'm confused x

I eat most of mine back and haven't had an issue with it.

If you're using the MFP method and you did not count exercise when determining your exercise level, yes, MFP "gives" you those calories back. The reason being is that MFP has already calculated a deficit, and if you exercise, you need to eat more to fuel your workouts. Unless you have a HRM, though, I'd probably not eat all the calories back, since machines and online calculators aren't the most reliable sources of calories burned info.0

If your using mfp method, then it is set up to eat them back. With that said, it often overestimates calorie burns. So some people only eat back half of them.
I use the tdee method, so I don't eat mine back at all.
If your just starting, I would search the forums and read up on everything.
Find what works for you. Eat at a responsible deficit, don't eat too little.
It takes a little trial and error, but you'll figure out what will work best.0 -
