How is everyone planning on handling the onslaught of Holiday meals, parties, and leftovers? Not to mention to pressuring of well meaning relatives?

Well, that is a very good question...I've had a massive amount of cookies that were brought into work yesterday.....I tried to not eat one, but that didn't work. Today; however, I didn't touch a single one. So I'm doing ok today. I just have to take one day at a time and yesterday is over, so no use worrying about it - Today, I'm doing great...Just need to take one day at a time......

Eat something befor the parties so that you are not starving and make the heathliest choices that you can, be sure to drink water and tell the nice food pushers NO THANK YOU!!!! You have to make choices for yourself. Be strong.

Also, it is a holiday, so have one of your favorite treats but try and limit yourself.

If all else fails, just log it and start over the very next day.

I plan to just take small portions (half the size I would have normally taken before my lifestyle change) of each thing I want to eat.

ETA: Of course, I'm also not going to be super hard on myself if I end up going over my calories that day.

If Im presented with something that I know is not the healthiest option I opt for one bite, or a very small portion. Otherwise I stick to my plan.
For christmas dinner I am making a "small" turkey so there won't be a ton of leftovers. No stuffing, but some yams, and a big green salad. I will likely make a small batch of whole wheat buns for a "treat".
    Dessert will likely be fruit.

For me it is now about the celebration of the day, no matter what the occasion is and not the food. Historically I would be preparing my menu for an elaborate feast weeks ahead . . . but now we plan an event or activity and the food is not the important part. Spending time with people we care about on the occasion is!
