Weighing on the Scales

I read another post about someone saying they got on the scales a bunch of times when weighing and I was curious who else does this?

I usually get on the scales 3 times, take a few minutes, do it 3 more, ect till I reach 10 times and then I take the average of all 10 times. This may sound silly, but the number is always different each set of times.. not but much but but a few ounces. Usually the first one is lower than the others.

I was wondering if anyone else did something similar to this or you just take the first number the scales says?

istep on, check it, then repeat 2more times just to be sure, the scale rarely gives a different reading

Um, I try twice. Does that count? My scale is digital so they are the same thing both times. I'm also trying to NOT stress on the weight because I can see things are looser and also I can see more definition in places. I'm toning so I'm doing something right. I'm interested to see what others say.

I think you need a better, more accurate, scale.

The first few times I used my scale, I stepped on it a few times: I had got a new shiny digital scale for $14. On old scales, if I leaned too far over, back, sideways, took a breath, held my breath, breathed out, the number changed. Doesn't make a difference on the digital (I just saw similar models at Walgreens for $10 - or your local Wal-Mart). I step on it once, wait a couple seconds then look down & there it is! I take that & go.
Of course, I also use a tape measure & how my clothes fit as a better guide now: I've lost so much but built up (tone/firm/strengthen) that the scale may hold steady while I'm actually getting better. I use the scale to keep me "in check" so I don't go up

I checked with the doctor yesterday when I went in to get a checkup and my scale has an "average" of about the same as the one at the office.. sadly it's not the scale that's screwing up it's my house having only 1 room with tile (carpet does NOT WORK!!!) in it and the floor not being "completely" even.. and I can't fix that... well I could if I had money but I don't, lol.

Ok, I want to say that you are doing awesome!!! Next, maybe don't move the scale? Get the digital and see if that helps also? Remember it is only one way to measure. Try a tape measure and do that periodically. My group of friends do it at the beginning of each month. You can even track the measurements here. I love to see how I have done on the reports.

It is digitial.. I keep wondering if putting something under it to even the floor more would help... but seeing as the average was the same as the doc's, I never bothered... like today it said 224.8, 225 * 3 times, 224.6 *2, stuff like that.. it's not to big a difference, but it's still there.

And I still need to buy a tape measure.. haven't gotten around to it yet, I have been measuring.. well as much as you can with a stiff measure... but I haven't written it down since it's no way near accurate haha.

Hopefully I can afford one after the holidays! Not even sure where to get them or how much they cost.
  • Walmart sells $1 tape measures in the sewing department. A construction tape measure does NOT work and they are cold and noisy.
