Can I eat Pasta on a 1,200 calorie a day diet? not a lot I am talking maybe a handful of penne pasta at lunch with some peppers, onion and spinach maybe 3 days a week as I find it gives me a lot of energy until dinner which is a good 5 hours later or would I be better just keeping it for my treat day and snacking on more fruit between lunch and dinner?
Really appreciate any help!

Of course you can. You will probably need to have a lot less than you're used to. If I'm having spaghetti, for example, now I will use a side plate (translates as 75g(dry)).

Of course you can:laugh: , just make sure you weigh it properly.

I will repeate what others have said, 'Of course you can'. It may be less than you may be used to but I do find it's pretty filling either way.

I had pasta for the first time last night since I started watching the calories and I was worried it would be pittance but it was actually plenty (75g dry - like 3laine75).

I eat pasta in a lot of my meals - I like wholewheat pastas and tagliatelle and my husband makes a wicked root veg gnocci (this time it's a butternut squash gnocci, but int he past we've had parsnip, and beetroot ones)

the main thing is portion control and balance, when I have pasta i cook 50g dry weight for a dinner or 75 g dry weight for two lunches - with enough veggies in the sauce this is absolutely fine for me

You can eat anything you like provided it fits into your calorie allowance. Adding a bit of protein to it will help keep you more full, though. I find just pasta leaves me ravenous after a couple of hours.
