This is my mother's meal plan for Christmas Eve. Takeout pizza and sushi with an everclear chaser. Oh boy. :ohwell: :drinker:
And that was supposed to say SUSHI not SUAHI! LOL!

I know! I told her I will pass on the pizza and everclear. Totally gonna indulge in the sushi and edamame, however.
  • My Christmas Dinner:
    Christmas in a Glass
    • 2 oz. Spiced Rum… the Captain will work just fine…
    • 1 oz. Cranberry Juice
    • ½ oz Orange Curacao
    • Dash of Allspice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass…You can garnish with an orange slice if you want.

Yeah, I wouldn't have figured the Sushi would be TERRIBLE, just wouldn't be the best thing out there, but in moderation. I love sushi (cali roll... yum). Of course, I haven't had it in a couple of months.

We partake in sushi at leat twice a month but lately more like once a week. Love the stuff!
  • I love going to the Sushi bar here...lots of yummies there. That is probably one thing I could not give up totally.
Cali Rolls, Chicken or Shrimp Tempura, just too darn many....Love it!

Yeah me neither. I just make sure that I plan my day's meals accordingly if I know we are going out for sushi. It's low cal but we eat so much of the stuff! It adds up!!

I didn't know there was an orange curacao. I've only heard of blue.

  • yah the problem is that you rarely use it. Blue Curacao is more frequently used, but it's soo good
This is from the bartending days....

I know the rice might be kinda carb-y, but would there be any way you could make it a little healthier (maybe the place will use brown rice instead of white to make it healthier for you?) Idk... I haven't really been "dieting" per say, just watching what I eat and practicing portion control.

We mostly eat sashimi (raw fish only/no rice) when we go out to a sushi bar. Christmas Eve I will be eating a roll (with rice) but that is not the norm.

    Gotcha. Doesn't sound as terrible.

Well, that is a random menu - HA! I would stick to some sushi and drink a lot of water all day to counteract the salt of the soy sauce and keep you from being tempted by the pizza. Stay away from the everclear...OMG that brings back BAD memories of underage drinking.

I recently fell in love with Japanese food. I tried Sushi for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I know it is good for me, but I can't quite seem to get it down. The taste is alright at first, but then the texture hits me. I'm sure it is all in my mind...focusing in on the "rawness" of it all! :ohwell: As for the everclear, I still haven't figured out why anyone would purposly drink ever clear. It's like fire water!

Sounds delish! Anything is better than everclear.

Ugggghh I know! I tried it once in high school and my salivary glands went nuts. I spit out like a gallon of saliva my mouth was watering so bad. YUCK!

Everclear really? I haven't heard of that stuff since college and we mixed it in a garbage can with fruit and juices. Never forget my friend crying and crying and when I asked her what was wrong, her reply was..... "I ate too much fruit!" LMAO.
