Veggies on Keto?

Hey guys,

I know that on keto you're supposed to take net carbs into account. I'm not sure if there's a setting that offsets this, but every time I choose to add in a head of endive, it shows me that it has 17g carbs! I LOVE endives and figured they'd be a welcome nutrient-rich addition to this way of eating. When I did a quick google search, all I could find were people raving about endives being good on this diet and that they have only one net carb, so what gives? :/

Is there a way to make my settings take dietary fiber into account? And if not, is there a different way I should be interpreting my carb count if I'm trying to incorporate leafy veg and broccoli/cauliflower/zucchini into my diet?

Thanks a lot in advance.

The only way I know how to take that into account is there's a food in the database called 'net carb adjustment - fiber and sugar alcohols subtracted.' Add it just like a regular food, and each serving takes off a carb from your total. My diary is open too if you want to see how it works.

The easiest way to do it is use one of the MFP / Net-Carb scripts.

    Check out information here: http://cavemanketo.com/configuring-mfp/

I run them under both firefox and chrome and they work great.

Another vote for the scripts. You need to be tracking Carbs, Fiber, Fat, and Protein, which you should already be tracking on keto anyway. It creates another column for "net carbs" and shows you your macro percentages for each meal and the end of day total as well. The script is a fantastic tool. Remember to download GreaseMonkey if you use Chrome for the script to work.

Oh, and veggies on keto are great. Track your net carbs, as fiber just goes straight through you. When you say endives have 17g carbs, are you talking total carbs or net carbs? Cause, for me, net carbs are the ones that matter. Subtract fiber from total carbs to get this number.
