I've only got 2.6lb to loose to reach the target I set in January.
Do I change my goal now and maintain or do I go for it?
I know that my weight can fluctuate that much in a few days, but I think I would like to see that 126 on the scale before Christmas.
If I do stop will I regret it and feel that I haven't achieved what I set out to do. I don't think 2.6lbs will make a big difference to the way I look now.

its about what your happy with and what is healthy. if you're happy then start maintaining, but if you you are really determined to get down then go for it. Congrats on reaching your goals!!

I think it is mentally kind of important to set certain goals and try to attain them. If you waffle or settle you may put yourself into a frame of mind that is not completely dedicated to this new lifestyle.

Don't change the settings until you reach your goal and stay at that weight for at least a week. That is what I did.

When you go into maintenance mode the database will increase your calories so you will not loose anything (at least you are not supposed to). So if you exercise a lot you will need to eat all your exercises calories to keep at your goal weight (I don't do that all the time). You may choose to reduce your cardio and increase your strenght training exercises, as another option and that is what I am doing now.

It has been only two weeks since I changed my goals and exercise, and so far the weight has been steady. Up one lb, and then I loose it again. My goal is to loose more body fat and to tone up, but our bodies respond different to the same exercise routine.

    I wish you good luck!

I would personally conquer those last 2 pounds. It would be a personal thing for me thinking that I was so close but didn't get the goal I set out for. But, it comes down to what you want and what YOU are comfortable with.

You are right that 2.6 pounds won't change the way you look or feel that much. I know the last few pounds can take FOREVER (having done this before and been too stupid to keep it off). If there isn't any concrete reason to believe you are already too thin, keep after it. After all, you need to continue eating in much the same way you are now to maintain your loss. You really don't get to add all that much back in! If, in 2 or 3 months, you can honestly say "I'm still eating right, I haven't slacked up on either my eating or my exercise, but that last 2 1/2 pounds is not budging at all," then you should probably say, "Well, I guess I've maintained my weight for the last 3 months--I'll keep on doing this and maintain--I'm not losing anyway." Right now it doesn't sound as though you are at that point. I rather suspect you are looking at the holidays ahead and saying, "Chuck it." Either way, you can't chuck it if you don't want to gain the weight back. You may also find that just the unpredictability of the holiday season will keep you from losing this weight until after January 1. Understand that this is okay. There is not a deadline on health.

I think you should still go for your goal, however, don't put such a strict time limit on it. Enjoy the holidays, don't pass up an awesome Christmas dish just because you're short by a measly two pounds.

    That's my 2 cents anyway.

Many thanks for the encouragement. Just to let you all know that this morning I weighed in at 125.8lbs, just slightly under my target. Glad that I did it and after the holidays looking forward to maintaining

Its a downward spiral! I say go for it, you will regret it. I would hate to see you fail when you are so close.
