My journey with my friend Bariatric....

My friend Mr Bariatric...On November 12, 2013 I went in and had gastric bypass surgery. I went through a 2 yr process and I am finally mentally stable and on my way to being a healthy me. I have lost 112lbs since my surgery. I am able to walk, play games with my children, and be a mommy now. But if you think I went into this lightly you are wrong. For me, it was surgery or the morgue. I chose surgery. Its a lifelong commitment so before anyone judges or before you make the decision to have surgery remember that Mr Bariatric only works if you do. I workout 4/5x a week every week. I dont cheat and I follow the diet to a "T"... consult with the dietitian on a regular basis. I go to counseling too. I am grateful that I was given a second chance at life. I knew that with all the health problems I had that if I wanted to be here for my children (ages 21, 19, 10,7) then I had to get right in my mind and after a stroke I was unable to lose weight and the weight spiraled out of control for 7 yrs and I knew I would not see my babies grow up if I didnt do anything. I spoke to doctors, went to consultations, support meetings. This was not an overnight fly by the seat of my pants decision. I made the choice to live and to get healthy and I made the right choice for me. I am 39 and I feel 20 again.
This is my journey and if you want to know more or are considering surgery feel free to add me.

That's great, that you were able to find something that works for you! Congrats on your success so far - I know several people who have had bariatric surgery and it's for sure not the "easy way"! Sounds like you are in a good place and that's what matters0

If it worked for you and you are happy and getting healthy then that's all that matters. Congrats to you for taking control and doing something about it. Best of luck going forward!! :drinker:0

That's great. You have to do what helps you, be it surgery or whatever....and good for you for staying motivated and putting in the effort to make it work. What you said is true. I know several people who have had various surgeries...bariatric, slimband, etc and haven't done the work so are no further ahead than before. You're doing the work and it's all you, so congrats!0

Thank you everyone. I am super excited and happy every time I get on the scales and see it go down. I realized a long time ago that they way to do anything right is to have a positive outlook on it and motivation and it will happen. Having the support and love of those closest to you helps tremendously. I never thought I could be where I am now but here I am and everyday I am getting healthier. Thanks for the kind words and support.0
