I'm All Jiggly...

So, I know this may sound strange but I'm looking to see how other people feel about this because I'm actually starting to be more insecure than when I was a little bigger.
Now that I've lost a little and it shows, although my stomach was bigger it was more full and hard to an extent... I could walk and not much jiggled, I guess my body was completely maxed out? But now that the fat is breaking down, I'm starting to get really jiggly and although its for the best, for my health, and I'll eventually look better, I was wondering what other peoples feeling were towards this?

Judging by your ticker, you have a lot to lose, so you might end up with loose skin. Time can help, if time doesn't do the trick, surgery will. If you can't get surgery, it's still better to be healthy and normal weight with loose skin than very overweight without any. Or at least that is my opinion.0

yes, i've had this! particularly noticeable when at zumba or jogging (i actually said at zumba last week i need a sports bra for my belly!)
i'm still up on my lowest weight though, and when i was at a lower weight it had firmed up more. from reading previous threads, when fat cells empty they fill with water and your skin feels all squishy and wobbly. something to do with your body keeping them prepared to be refilled with fat. after a while your body realises they won't be refilled and squooshes out the water.
all technical terms there you understand...
i get round it by wearing leggings and bike shorts that hold my belly down and know that it will firm up with time and patience.0 -
How quickly are you losing weight? Are you doing any form of strength training?
Slow loss combined with strength training will help prevent 'jiggliness' because it will preserve muscle mass and ensure the majority of your loss comes from fat.0 -
I went through a stage with this squishiness as well. It will pass. As your belly gets smaller, there's less to jiggle and it's less noticeable. You're just noticing one of those changes from being totally bloated and barely fitting in your own skin, to having a bit of extra room. Keep exercising and you'll tighten up!0

I've got some issues myself with loose skin. I'm 43 yoa, and I went from 213 lbs to 148 lbs in about 19 months. I took it slow and made sure I exercised and did some strength training throughout, which has helped a lot, but I still have loose skin on my stomach, upper arms (bat wings) and my upper/inner thighs. It's aggravating but I can easily hide it with clothes. Now that I'm basically at my goal, I'm focusing on increasing my strength training and still doing my zumba. I also wear really fitted compression pants or shorts to hold everything together. That helps a lot during zumba! Try not to focus too much on those "flaws" as they actually are showing you progress. Focus on the positive aspects of your journey and remember no one is perfect (except maybe Miranda Kerr LOL!!). I may never rock a bikini again, but by golly I'm gonna rock a tankini this summer! Good luck on your journey!!0
