Does the scale stress you out?

Let me try to put it into perspective how much that little electronic knows about your progress:
Yesterday I got on it, got off, burped, back on, gained one pound.
Let it go, let it go...

I don't think that's normal.... you probably need a new scale or battery....
Mine gives me the same weight if step on/off again.0 -
Over the last week the scale says I gained 4-5 lbs and 2 lbs overnight. In my head I know there are other factors, but the number I saw on the scale today depressed me. I'm trying to lose weight, but instead it seems I'm gaining. I'm trying to let it go and focus on the progress I have made. Not easy though.0

Throw it out lol that's what I did...especially if your using weights and gaining muscle. It's just a let down and not useful. I use my clothes as a scale of how much I'm losing or old pictures, way more accurate.0

I hate my digital scale. I'd worry more if I wasn't aware of my physical improvements, like everything feeling firmer. On the other hand I swore I was gonna see 1 less pound today, but it just didnt happen...0

My scale was my friend until this last couple of weeks where nothing has changed but I am seeing changes in my body overall. I am seriously beyond frustrated as I am still needing to lose weight to get to a normal BMI but the scale isn't budging :explode: Trying to keep it calm and just stick with it but its proving very hard.0

I have a good scale but I still feel the one that really counts is the one at the weight watchers meetings. They get checked every 6 months for accuracy.0

my scale causes me endless stress every morning when I jump on it.....I know I should throw it out the window but I just can't bring myself to do it......sighhh.....:(
....there has to be a 12 step program somewhere for this.....0 -

I no longer have a scale at home. When we moved, it ended up "lost" and I haven't replaced it. Now. This worked to my disadvantage as I comforted myself with food during the stress of the move, settling in, etc. I am using it to my advantage now. Our gym has a scale and yes, I have already been on it twice. But, not having one at home helps. I have determined I need to stay away from the scale totally and focus on how my clothes fit and feel. I have a couple pairs of pants that I can wear but they aren't comfortable and I KNOW they don't look great on me. THOSE are my goal vs a number on a scale.0

I used to weigh daily and it was very stressful. That number would be higher one day, lower the next, and even more higher the day after. Gave up weighing (and logging food) for Lent and I really didn't realize how much stress it caused until I stopped . I know I have lost some weight because my once tight pants are now my comfy pants. I started lifting weights and I can see changes in my thighs/butt. I think I will weigh once Lent is over but it'll just be so I can move my ticker number!0

According to my calorie burns in the last two weeks, I should have lost 2.5-4 lbs.
In the last two weeks, I've lost 1 lb.
Oddly enough though . . . I ordered new clothes, which arrived Tuesday. A particular pair of pants I ordered was XXL/20, and not of an especially forgiving or stretchy fabric. I am about a 22 per their sizing chart, and I figured I'd be good for these later in the summer, when I'd really want to wear the lighter fabric anyway. But I tried them on, to see how much more I needed to lose to fit in them well. And son of a gun - they FIT. I'm still in shock (and afraid to wash them, lest they shrink).
Scale only tells a partial tale of a specific relationship with gravity at a specific point in time. Weirdly, I ALWAYS weigh at least 1.5 lbs lighter in the evening (after a full day of eating/drinking) on my mom's scale than I do naked first thing in the morning before breakfast at my house. I like her scale better.0 -
Yes, according to my trusty scales, at one point I managed to drop 2 kilos (4lbs) in less than 2 days. Must be all that chocolate I've been eating; great fat burner. :laugh:0

It doesn't really stress me out. I find the fluctuations kind of interesting. Granted my weight is trending down weekly, and if it was going the other way I might feel differently. But as some of the people on MFP like to point out, it's just a tool. One way to track progress but certainly not the only (or best) way.0

Yeah i need to get one, I just hate not seeing the scale reflect all the work I am doing. especially since that is what my doctor is watching0 -

Eh, the hell with your doc. Take the other signs of progress in as well and make your doc see the global view. Because inches lost are important as well. And sometimes the scale is awful but that doesn't mean no progress.0 -
I hate the scale. Normally, I don't weigh myself at all-I judge success by better fitting clothes and physique. I used to hop on those d@mned things all the time...but honestly, I hardly ever weigh myself anymore.
Anyway, yesterday, I broke my rules and I weighed myself and was totally upset. I had gained back to where I started...but I've dropped almost 2 pant sizes and got up over 10 miles running the other day. I know I've lost fat and look better than I have for a while.
I still cried and felt like giving up. The scale is the devil.0 -
I had my husband hide the digital scale so now I need to ask for it back if I want to use it. Since starting back on MFP this week I have started sneaking a look at my old-fashioned scale. It's hard to read so I still want to check on the digital once a week to make sure I'm on track.
I think the woman who lost 2 sizes of pants and runs 10 miles a day should feel pretty darn good about herself!0 -
