Ok so I had a baby last year and I topped the scales at 206-the day of delivery and slowly lost weight throughout this year. I got down to 168 and I gained some weight back. I completely stopped weighing or even watching what i ate! So I gained back to 179lbs. That is when I decided I had to do something, biggest I have ever been in my life not pregnant. My weight before I got pregnant was 165 and that was the highest I had ever been....normal weight before ballooning up was about 145!!! So anyway I joined MFP and started exercising and I have lost 14.5lbs but I cannot see a difference at all. My clothes dont fit any different, I dont look any smaller at all, I just don't get it!!! I am 5'5 and usually that much weight makes a huge difference on me! I have been looking at my FB pictures and I dont look any different or slimmer than I did when I was 179 lbs!!! WTF!?!?!?!?!? It is very discouraging!!!

you need to post a before and after pic side by side, I bet you will see a difference. Sometimes it is hard for us to see the difference, but others see it. Hang in there and dont give up. You will see a change. You can do it

When yr looking at yourself everyday it's hard to notice the difference, which there definitely will be, find an old friend u haven't seen in a while see if they notice. Well done keep up the good work.

You can't base anything on a few photos. Cameras are the most unreliable source of weight. Base it on your measurements, how your clothes fit, and how you feel.
  • I know how you feel. I have lost a 13 pounds on MFP and 12 pounds before joining, so a total of 25 pounds. The pants I am wearing are just now starting to get big, but I still can't fit into the size down. So I am constantly pulling my pants up to where they are supposed to be, but if I try to squeeze into the next size down I have a gigantic muffin top hanging over!! lol. It is very frustrating. The inches have barely been coming off. I just want to SEE a difference. Someone posted an idea that helped a little, though. Grab a tape measure and hold it to your beginning measurements and see how much slack there is. That was the only way I could tell I had lost anything. Don't get discouraged. You can do it! Good luck.

Do pics! I can't tell the difference and I've lost FORTY pounds. I mean I get that my clothes are big so it's obvious but when I LOOK in the mirror I can't see it. It takes your mind about 6 months to catch up.

I can completely tell in pictures though, even random pics from "before" compared to pics taken in the bathroom now. Then I get it.

You can't base it on a few photos. I was taking pictures for Christmas cards not too long ago and in one I looked super slim and in the other I looked like a moose! Perhaps start taking monthly measurements? You might not notice that half inch you shaved off your waist? And to be honest, I'll look at pictures of myself in high school (a good 40 pounds down from where I am now) and still think that I look the same now. You're your toughest critic. Don't let it get you down!

I didn't notice at either, but family and friends do. and then I measured! An entire inch off my waist! I would suggest measuring as well. but most importantly I wish you luck on your weight loss journey, and remind you that yes, it is a journey, not a sprint. keep on keeping on WE CAN DO THIS!

I've lost 10 pounds and have only seen a little bit of difference. The pants I was wearing before were getting a little big when I started here and after losing about 8 pounds I needed a size smaller. But even though I'm wearing smaller pants it's hard to see that I've lost 1.5 inches from my waist and 2 inches from my hips. The only thing I've been able to see for sure is that my forearms are much skinnier and my face looks a little thinner. For me, the fat is working itself off from the outside in, so my forearms, my feet and ankles are all thinner. And I'm slowly seeing the fat come off from my thighs, but it's working its way up from the knee, so my hips and upper thighs are still big.

You may not have seen a dramatic difference in yourself yet, but I'm sure your body is changing. If your clothes aren't fitting much differently you're probably burning fat and building some muscle. Just be patient and hang in there! If you've lost 14.5 pounds your hard work is clearly paying off!

I feel your pain. I've lost 25 lbs & you wouldn't even know it. My clothes don't even really fit different yet or anything. IDK.

Somebody wrote find an old friend, that's true... it works... alot of people who havn't seen me in a while say "have you lost weight" when they see me. I've only lost like 14 lbs or so and i'm 4'11" I started at 140 and now im 126 .. so when you short like me I think it's harder to tell.. I look at my self and I think I don't even look different,,, but everyone else seen to think so.. AWESOME!.. I went out on a limb today and bought 1 really expensive pair of jeans 2 sizes smaller.... I WILL see a differance soon enough when I can fit my "soon to be" LITTLE butt into them...lololol I hung those bad boy's up on my bathroom wall by my scale today.. crazy I know, but very motivating since I spent more on those jeans than my car.....lololol, JK
