Terrified I am gaining the weight back

Could be all in my head...
However, I am 25.... 158 pounds now, but was 163. I've been dieting for 2 weeks now.
I lost 5 pounds or may be 4 pounds.... the scale switches from 158 to 159.
I've been cutting calories to 1200 - 1400 eating good foods... avoiding fat greased foods, no junk food, no soda, etc. Just baked foods, salads, fruits and whole wheat breads and stuff like that no crash diets here.
I started noticing inches falling off my waist and arms. I was starting to get more motivated after seeing the slight change. I started walking and will be going to the gym every day starting Sunday.
Here's the thing though...
3 days ago... I had the flu. I was barely eating a 1,000 calories... I was only eating like 800 calories a day and pretty much all water and gatorade beause my appetite was gone... I had diarrhea along with vomitting... and just rested all day. So, I missed out some calories.
However, now I am feeling better... pretty much flushing and sweating the flu out and I am gaining my appetite back.
I am going to probably go running tomorrow.
However, I got on the skill and it still 158... but I just feel like the fat is coming back. I am feeling all over my body and it feels like the fat is on it's way back home.
What do I do here? do you think it is all in my head? have my body went into starvation mode? Please lend me some insight.

The best way to not gain the weight back is to not be terrified of gaining the weight back.
Just get up tomorrow and start exercising/eating well again. Your body is capable of adjusting better than you might think.0 -
Even when we are doing all the right things, the scale #s won't show a straight downward line. Its going to have hills & valleys but the general direction should be downward. Glad you're feeling better - and not letting the flu totally derail your efforts. Just keep moving forward.
There are many things that have a temporary effect to mask the scale #. Hormones, stress, sleep (or lack thereof), sodium, etc. Give it more time.0 -
you're body fluxes upwards of 5 lbs a day from water weight salt and if you had a good dump or not that day.
Stop panicking.
2 weeks is NOTHING.
You're initial weight loss is more probably due to water weight anyway- you often will drop a few pounds- then stabalize then start to drop again- weight loss (much like weight gain) is not linear.
stop thinking so much about this.
Eat a deficit.
workout.
stop stressing.
go forth- be fabulous.
lather rinse- repeat.
For months- or years- how ever long it takes you to research your goals.0 -
