Does anybody know how many calories you burn pushing a wheel chair?

    Ok More info needed.
    Are you walking and pushing someone else or wheeling yourself?
    If wheeling self depends on your weight,
    weight of wheelchair
    type of tire
    and time and distance.
    Wearing a heat rate monitor would work!

    If wheeling self-set the back wheels forward as much as possible for a decent push.

    My mother is in the hospital. Has been since Mar 11. Surgery in 4 weeks. Will remain another 4 to 6 weeks after that. (min)

    I just discovered that there is a walking route through the hospital that is 1/3 km. It goes through the part of the hospital that is just offices.

    If I pushed my mother in her wheel chair for a 1 km route, how many calories would I be burning?

    I don't know wheal circumference and all of that, because the wheel chair is on lone from the rehab unit she's staying on. (Rehab as in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy all in one hospital ward as apposed the Rehab Amy Whinehouse sang about).
