What kind of food/meals do you bring to work?

Hello everyone! I'm getting tired of bringing my turkey sandwich and salad to work. What do you usually pack?

You can change your sandwich to a wrap or just pack left overs from dinner. protein shakes and trail mix also work well if you need snacks. Sandwiches are one of the easiest to prepare but you can always switch the meat and go with an egg white or turkey burger. What about fruit salad with some low fat yogurt? Or mixed veggies and some low fat cheese sticks. Hummus and veggies? I am just throwing things out there...why types of food you you like?

mmmm!!! I like the wrap idea a lot, I can't believe I hadn't thought of it. lol
I'm gonna start bringing veggies and some nuts to snack on as well. I love cheese also! Great ideas :-) Thank you so much for taking your time to reply!

I often cook 2-3 portions at a time and take one the next day in a Tupperware-type container. That might be pretty much anything - chicken, rice and broccoli; cold lentil/chickpea salad with some tuna; pasta dishes... There is a microwave oven I can use to heat it up, if it is something to be eaten hot.

One perk of my workplace is that the kitchen gets restocked every 2 weeks with food for us to take. We have nuts, various no and low fat yogurts, milk, fruit smoothies, fresh fruit (until it runs out, which is fast, but I seem to be one of the few people to like pears...), peanut butter, various cereal bars (some healthier than others), bran flakes (and other cereals), rice cakes, Ryvita crispbread and light Laughing Cow cheese. That's all great to supplement meals and get a healthy snack. (There is of course also a ton of fizzy drinks, "diet" and full sugar, chocolate, candy bars and crisps (chips), but I don't usually take any, though I SOMETIMES do get one mini-sized piece of candy.)

Another thing to consider, especially when on a budget, is soups. Yes, soups: My former housemate would make a huge pot of vegetable soup and freeze it in portion-sized containers and bags. One portion will melt a little during the day but just enough to be reheated easily.

I generally take meals for all day since I go to school 2 hours from home and am there 8 to 5:30. On the way out the door I have a protein shake, an egg sandwich, granola bars, or even dry cereal to eat in the car. I pack a cooler with fruits, veggies, fat free ranch for the veggies, crackers and cheese, etc. for snacks. For lunch, I'll do wraps, sandwiches, salads, leftovers from the night before, homemade soups and stews (cooked in bulk on the weekend), pretty much anything I would eat at home but I sometimes struggle to find a microwave. Probably the thing I take most often is tuna salad made with fat free mayo and pickles and whole wheat crackers to eat it on.
