Goooood Morning!!
Well the ride begins! I am 44 years old dealing with thyroid issues which will make this very bumpy. I would love some friends to help me along this journey since weight loss will NOT be easy. I have a fitbit, elliptical, turbofire, zumba, a nordictrack treadmill.. I have a gym in my house (LOL) I'm ready!!

I lost 140lbs in high school, 100lbs in my mid 20's as well as late 30's. I'm now 43 and on a journey to loose over 200lbs. I too have had some thyroid issues over the last few years but I also comforted myself with food and started living a sedentary life.

You've just got to focus on the day at hand, forgive youself for your mistakes and don't worry about failure in the future. :)

I found this video a few months ago. Sonny is very inspiring and he shows that it's never to late to start as long as you've got the will to make it happen. :)

I don't think it is ever too late to work on getting fit and healthy. I also deal with thyroid issues so I have worked to change my mind set to focus on being fit and healthy and not so much about the scale or I would be discouraged. My weight comes off super super slow. You can do this!!

I don't definitely have thyroid issues (I have consistent symptoms of low thyroid but test into the "normal" group). I do however lose weight slowly, possibly by choice so that I feel it's doable for me. Possibly not by choice (when I did Nutrisystem - long ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth - I lost weight so much slower than I should (yes, while being more compliant than most (I ate a Mcd cheeseburger weekly)) that I stayed in trouble with the weigh in people, until I told them to shove it.) If it's too hard I'll just quit and quitting isn't an option so I make it as easy as I can so I'll keep moving in the right direction. Check out my profile and if we fit good - feel free to friend me!

Not sure how severe your thyroid issues are, but I have hypothyroidism which is currently treated by a daily .05 mg dose of Synthroid, an artificial thyroid hormone. It seems to be doing a great job of keeping everything under control. By following the recommended food intake on MFP and doing 3 or 4 treadmill sessions a week, I've lost 25 pounds in 3 months. And...I'm 64 years old. I don't know if that's typical of someone with an underactive thyroid, but I found it to be very encouraging and gave me great faith in this website :)

    Good luck with your progress.

Thanks all :) I am borderline Hishmoto thyroiditis I have to get another ultra sound done at the end of the year. If the growth has gotten bigger then my ENT wants to take out my thyroid. The issue is im still producing hormones so they can't give me synthroid. BUT my thyroid is 'changing' ie lots of those wonderful symptoms such as weight gain, thin hair (nobody has noticed but I sure do!!) and horrible time losing weight!! So thanks for all the positive thoughts.. I can do this :-)
