Friends and weight loss help

Hey everyone, I need some help. I am currently a Zumba fitness (since 2011), Aqua Zumba and Zumba Gold instructor (both since 2013) plus I have my group fitness license through AFAA (2013). I have a friend who always complains about her weight and eating. I try to give her advice from what I learned in my fitness trainings and from my own experiences and she keeps on crying about it. I tried to explain that weight loss and fitness is a lifestyle, not a 12 day thing. Everyone has a different body type. metabolism. BMI, etc. Your results in fitness may be totally different than mine because of height, weight and the fact that we're not the same person. It's 70 percent diet and 30 percent fitness. I also mentioned drinking water will help her flush everything out and remove toxins. I personally try and get fiber in my diet to regulate my body.

Long story short, no matter how much I try to help and encourage her to try out my class (first class is free) she refuses and keeps on complaining. Should I give up on her or keep on encouraging her to do better.

Not much you can do until she is ready to make changes for herself. Offer a class to her if she brings it up, but otherwise all you can do is shrug...and move on.

I'm trying. I am always a giver and a helper, one reason of why I teach fitness. Part of me wants to help everyone.

Has she actually asked for your advice? Sometimes people just want to vent to a friend.

Yeah she specifically asked for advice, her excuse was that she had a kid and it was hard to eat well and exercise. I suggested that she made healthy meals for the whole family to eat. Plus her kid can go on a walk with her and when she gets older they can play games, jump rope or even run together. I personally think that exercising and eating well with the family is fun.

Not everyone who asks really wants help I find. I have a husband like that.
You can just offer advice and support but don't get frustrated when she doesn't take it, when she's ready she will listen. M

Sounds like you've done your part. People don't want to hear aout hard work, they want the magic pill. When she's really ready, she will listen, until then there's nothing you can do.

So I should just wait it out? I suppose if she wants me to find her a class or come to mine I'll help her out. I'll just need to ignore all her cries on facebook.
