Exercise when sick?

Feel like crap today....I have no voice and I feel like I have a brick on my chest but the thing is I haven't worked out in two days...I don't want to stop losing weight...should I rest or suck it up and get through it?

The more you rest/more liquids you drink, the faster your recovery

You should go see your doctor and then decide.

Recovery is more important. Exercise while sick and you can prolong the illness.

Besides, you don't lose weight from exercising: you lose weight from eating less.

Both of the above! See your doctor, and decide whether it's actually better to skip exercise for a couple of days in the interests of speedy recovery.

I hope you feel better soon.

The rule of thumb is if you have symptoms below the neck (chesty cough, fever, aching limbs etc.) you should rest. A head cold you can work out through.

You won't stop losing weight, just maintain a calorie deficit through your diet.

Rest. I've been laid up for nearly 6 months now with a total &"£*$&")*%& of a chest infection. Gentle exercise and Helloooo out of hours GP. Feeling a lot better now, but two days in bed. Hoping (beyond all hope) that this is the end of it. I didn't even really have symptoms beyond a cough in the mornings. It's just not worth it and puts stress on your body that it really doesn't need given it's already waging war on illness.

I've not really put on weight though, because I kept the diet thing healthy and moderation. All my muscle tone seems to have gone, but health first, Then looking super fly.

Definitely rest. You will not be able to give it a 100% and your workout will therefore not be as efficient.

Carrying on will likely prolong the sickness, ergo more less efficient workouts. Plus you could do longer term damage.

    Get some rest.

(I speak from experience - I am the biggest idiot in the world when it comes to working out sick. I only wish I could pay more attention to my own advice).
  • If you have a fever or severe muscle pains anywhere then no. but if you just have a little cold then yes, a little exercise won't hurt. Just do it in moderation, know you body and your limits.

    Hope you feel better soon
