I'm mildly disappointed that you perceive people being helpful as people trying to be 'right'.

On what are you basing this ridiculous assumption??? I'll assume that during your almost-three-years on MFP that you haven't spent much time reading the forums...because beginners jumping right into things into which they shouldn't be jumping is more the norm than it is the exception.
(That said, it isn't your obligation to warn them about it either...that's on them...but is nonetheless why I raised the point.)
Because everyone with even half a brain knows his limits, everyone will check out exercises first before doing them, if they see they're hard, logically that person will give up right away and search for something easier. If I were a beginner now I wouldn't try this one especialy after checking it out because those exercises aren't so easy... Even if that person tries to do it, he'll see he can't do it and he'll stop and search for more appropriate one. I read forums now and then, not 24/7, but as I already said, every person beginner or not, knows his limits. I posted this topic with assumption that people who are already into exercise for some time, will join in this challenge.0 -

Unfortunately, people new to exercise injure themselves all the time trying a routine they aren't ready for. A lot of people either don't realize that their bodies aren't yet conditioned for certain levels of exercise or they don't care and do it anyway, thinking that their bodies will get into shape faster this way.
Adding a warning to anyone who might be lurking this thread and thinking about it really isn't mean and it's not a bad thing to do, even if you don't think it's necessary. Why else do you think so many fitness companies include the disclaimer to check with a doctor before starting a new exercise routine?0 -

You're being pretty condescending to a lot of beginners who make the exact mistakes that you describe anyone with "half a brain" should know. People make mistakes. People might make fewer mistakes if someone takes the time to point out the risks that they just didn't know or think about. We aren't born inherently knowing these things, they have to be taught. Many people here are interested in informing and helping, not assuming someone's intelligence or knowledge.0 -
I think the point everyone is trying to make is that there ARE going to be some beginners who read this post and (without looking at the disclaimer on the website) will say oh wow I can do this and burn 1000 calories! No one is trying to attack the OP or is freaking out, they are simply saying that #1 an HRM reading could be inaccurate so you should use caution if you try to use it for this workout and #2 as an MFP community we are trying to help others by correcting MISLEADING information (notice how I'm saying misleading not incorrect. There may be plenty of people who burn 1000+ cals from this) so that we can prevent further 'Why am I not losing' posts from people overestimating calorie burns. Not a big deal folks. Either you want to join the challenge or you don't. It's gonna be okay!0

Sigh, I give up, I give up really... People jumping in without reading the whole topic and writing some conclusions that we already talked about... Especially those comments now "this is not a 1k workout", ofc it's not a 1k workout, we discussed that already.
Anyway, I wanted to find people who would join me, it's okay to have 2-3 posts pointing out some things that are wrong, but when that becomes a discussion where everyone just wants to prove their point and keep repeating themselves, that's just not right.
I am sorry that I opened this topic, I am aware about calorie estimates in this workout, I'm aware that beginners can't do this workout, I opened it just to find people who are also aware of those things and who would like to join me (people with similar fitness level as mine). In the future, if I find any challenge that I'm willing to share, forum will be the last place to post it, I'll just keep it between my MFP friends and me.

I've done this one! I loved it, and my HRM read about 500? I know it's not totally accurate because of the strength/cardio mix, but that's a rough idea. I'm also below the weight range they use, so I'm not surprised I didn't reach 1000. Was a wicked workout all the same though!0

I think it's good to do little challenges like this no matter how many calories you burn in the process. It's about getting off your butt and DOING something rather than vegging in front of the TV with a bag of Cheetos and a Diet Coke and thinking you're healthy....
Who gives a flying flip if it's 600 or 1000 calories??? Are y'all so obsessive that you can't see the value in burning 600 calories? If you are, then go have a protein shake or something because you're obviously not thinking clearly, and it's likely because you've been in a 5 hour spinning class without eating or drinking anything... Delirous much??
Bottom line is this the post was a kind and gentle way to say: GET OFF YOUR REARS and do something other than griping and nitpicking someone's post that was simply intended to motivate folks to be more active...

Alright, who wants to join me in this challenge tomorrow (14.4)? You can use your own HRM or you can just check out estimated calorie burn on the video. The workout consists of:
6 Minute Cardio Warm Up
10 Minute Abs and Obliques Workout
36 Minute HIIT Routine
26 Minute Total Body Strength Training
8 Minute Cool Down & Stretch
I'm exercising since New Year (I exercised before but had a longer break), and now I feel like I can manage to finish this challenge. If you're going to try it out, do it at your own pace, if some exercises are too hard feel free to modify or even skip them. If you feel like you can't finish the whole workout, it's okay, do as much as you can and post over here how much did you manage to do (time and calories burned).

I've done a few of those on FitnessBlender. Awesome feeling. Right around the 40 minute mark I start to get a nice rush. It probably takes 85 minutes to do the workout.0 -

Hey Nephy, don't be sad. I'm with you on this. 1000 calories, or 85 mintues or whatever, it's a big deal. It feels good. So what if others can do 10000 calories in 15 minutes. It's nice to know there are Supermen and Wonderwomen around to save the day when the time comes.
You keep being excited by challenges. I'm excited that I'm lifting 60lb barbells. That's nothing for some folks but it's new to me so I'm enjoying it.

I'm with you. As a neutral observer, I won't say the responders were mean, but I will say they kinda came down hard on her over really insignificant things. She was totally non-abrasive and she was being really excited about something. I'm a big fan of cynicism but dayum, poor Nephy.
This is my first time being disppointed with the MFP family. But, I have a forgiving nature. And I'm kind of a beyotch sometimes so I'll leave it at that.0 -
Thanks guys for supporting me, I really appreciate it here is my report, I managed to finish whole workout till the end, I burned (more or less) 763 kcal, but what matters is I managed to finish it. I had to take few longer breaks but it felt good afterwards one more time, thanks for the support and I'm looking forward to other reports0
