Hi Guys,

I just started using MFP as of yesterday and had a question. So I am allowed 1200 calories per day; if I exercise, I am allowed more calories? Does everyone eat the additional calories after exercising? I am trying to lose 7 lbs by May 24th. Suggestions? I am open to ANY suggestions?

Will MFP help me lose weight?

Also, do you guys track gum if you have a piece, etc?

    hey ya,

well i eat back maybe half the calories i burn when exercising, 1200 is already a low target and if you exercise a large calorie burn then your body will need those extra calories back but you dont have to eat them all back.

MFP has helped me lose 2 stone in the last 3 months so it works, as long as you do count and be honest with what you log.

this is all just my opinion and others will have something else to say, but we will all agree on wishing you luck and welcoming you to the new you :-)

Personally, I do not eat back the calories I burn, because of my high intensity workout routine during the week, I have myself at a pretty high calorie target (1500-1600 per day). And a majority of my calories I try to get from protein sources.
Everyone is different :) My personal opinion would be to eat back the calories you are burning because 1200 calories is a very low calorie goal for the day, especially if you are exercising!
But again, just my opinion and there are SO many different things that work for different people.
GOOD LUCK on your journey! And remember, you CAN do it! :)

I agree with the guys above re eating calories backk.

I log everything I eat and every form of exercise I do. Honesty is the best policy as they say. I'd rather be honest with myself and see everything I've ate or drank that day and see where I need to improve etc. Learning curve in a lifestyle change.
