Say something you "can't say"

What I've learned on this leg of my journey is that there really is no such word as "can't" when it comes to your goals.

Weeks ago
"I could never work out before an overnight shift"
2 out of 2 last week I put in over an hour without rest before work.

YESTERDAY
"I can't run more than a mile outside yet"
In the last twelve hours I've run 4 miles along the beach

Think hard
What have you done recently that you absolutely cannot do?:flowerforyou:

Old: I can't lose weight. I'll be a yo-yo dieter for the rest of my life.
New: I lost nearly 100lbs and have kept it off for 6 months now and counting

Old: I hate exercise and phyiscal activity and will never be the person who loves it. I'm a klutz and not the type of person who can be any kind of an athlete.
New: I'm a runner. Marathoner. Now training for a 100km Ultramarathon.

Once you remove all excuses and the word 'can't', absolutely anything is possible.

    OP - Great topic!

    "I've tried everything, I just can't lose weight" and "I can't exercise"
(Old me would be surprised by new me, I think)

Loads related to pole... "I can't climb", "I can't invert", "I can't do chair spins"
(I can do all of those things now. I admit that I've adopted some new "can'ts", but I suspect those will be proven wrong sooner or later as well!)

"I just can't enjoy exercise. It feels like a chore."

Now I've actually found something I like that I wake up feeling excited and motivated to do at least 3 or 4 times a week-riding my bike. Just like I did for hours every day when I was a kid and was really lean and fit...I'm not sure why I never thought of it before.
With the combination of exercise and diet, this is the best progress I have made in 2 years of trying to lose weight on and off with mostly just diet.

I cant run, and if I have to, I get winded.

Turns out I can run with a little conditioning (interval training) and now if I have to break into a run (like crossing the street), I don't pant like a dog, I can deep, steady breath myself back to slow breathing.

I can't count calories or watch what I eat.

A scale helps so much, and it took me years to realize diet is up to 90% of the weight loss aid or hinderance.

    2014: I can do 2 sets of 5 pull-ups, chillax!

2013: I can't keep up with these athletic people in this class!
2014: I may still be the largest but I can hold my own!

    2013: I can't run for more than 3 minutes
    2014: 25 minutes run non-stop

2013: It seems impossible for me to get under 17 stone
    2014 (last week): I'm 16st 10lb.
  • I can drive in four lanes of traffic, over bridges and with many merges and lane changes, and be relaxed about it:-)

Thought I wasn't going to be able to run again with a messed up knee.
It's now healed, doing much better.
Not pushing it, but can now run again.

"Suscribing" - I need this for reference. Thank you!

    Mine is a 3 Week Story ~*~
3 weeks ago: What hope have I? I don't know if I can EVER get started (with weight loss & fitness).
Now: LOTS of hope with this site at my fingertips.

3 weeks ago: No way can I handle walking 2 miles without getting too tired.
Now: 2 mile walk at least 3 times per week plus 1 mile 2 times / week. Also, started in with strength training for 3 times/week.

    My OLD story:
    I don't have time...

    My NEW story:
I make time, if I have to drag the kids kicking and screaming on a mile walk to get in some exercise, I do! (They might complain but it is good for them to get out too, and they do enjoy it...sometimes  )

Old: I can't count calories, it's too finicky and hard
    New: Actually, it's pretty easy!

Old: I'm already exercising a ton and no weight's coming off... I just can't lose weight
New: If I control my portions I make good progress.

Old: I will never have strong arms.
New: I can do five pushups already and more every day!

I used to always be told that I was very weak and "helpless". Mainly just teasing by my sisters, but it was true, I had no muscle tone at all. I've definitely changed their minds and I'm getting stronger every day.

Before: I can't change. It is too scary and so unknown. I'll just stay fat, I know how to do this.

After: I can't stay this way. It is too scary and too well-known. I'm not going to stay fat. I can do this.

Before: I can't ever get the body back that I had 20 years ago. I'm 45 and have 3 kids, it's impossible.

After: If I would eat and exercise the way I did 20 years ago, I can! And now I do!
