    Your body is made so it burns off more calories the more you intake. You shouldn't go anything below 1500 because the moment you start eating "normal" again, your body will store anything excess as fats in case you deprive it of calories/food again. What I recommend is to make a "lifestyle" change, more than going on a diet. Get yourself used to eating healthier so staying fit doesn't become a burden. Do you work out at all?

    Start by logging EVERYTHING you eat. Get yourself a food scale so you can learn portion sizes and be accurate. Foods not to eat = things you do not like and things you cannot control yourself with (this varies from person to person). Get moving - add something new to your exercise routine. Read the forums and check the sticky posts. Join a challenge, make some friends. Reach out to folks with similar goals.

    I am having a hard time getting motivated to exercise, my boys always want to get me to go with them to the gym.

    Go with them!! If at first your only going for them, you will see how great you feel after two weeks and you will not want to miss a gym session. My motivation is in my bathroom.. mirrors are all over the walls, full length ones. Seeing that image everyday keeps me going!! Good luck!
