Anyone here with Hypothyroid or Hashimotos?

Just wondering how you guys are dealing with trying to lose weight? I have hashimotos, a type of hypothyroid & it seems SOOO much harder to lose weight ever since I've been diagnosed 2 years ago. Anyone willing to share some tips?

MFP has a Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/770-hypothyroidism-and-hyperthyroidism

I have Hashi's. I lost way more slowly than most MFPers, so be patient. But I did it just like everybody else—by eating at a deficit.

I think you have to find out what works for you. I have a Hashi friend who lost weight eating a vegan diet, another one swears by a low carb diet, yet another eats everything but counts calories. Many people seem to be convinced that going gluten-free is the solution. Whatever you do you have to be patient.

Per my endocrinologist, I didn't change what I eat at all. I just ate less—by logging everything I eat accurately & honestly.

I am hypothyroid . I had half of my thyroid removed about 8 years ago due to a cancer scare and now take synthroid daily. I didn't have to watch my weight very much before my surgery, but literally began gaining weight the week after. I think it's different for everybody, but counting calories, eating less than i used to be able to and exercise is the only thing that seems to work for me. You're not alone. Please feel free to add me. You can do this!
