Mr. Rogers

Yesterday I received my very first FR on here from a woman that used Mr. Rogers to flip me off. This thread is not only for her to reflect on what she did, but for all of you that fail to embrace the importance of being kind to others.

"Often when you think you're at the end of something, you're at the beginning of something else."

That is one of my favorite Mr. Rogers' quotes!

Maybe this was her way of saying "Mr Rogers says you're number one!"

The fact that someone would use him to flip you off is saddening.

I'm guessing I grew up on the wrong side of the pond to have heard of that. Especially going by the above spelling of neighbourhood

ETA: we had Blue Peter though!

The most famous Blue Peter episode being the one where the elephant shat on the studio floor (life TV n all that)

I knew people who knew him personally. He was every bit as cool as his show.

One practical joke that his crew would do was to take pictures of their naked butts using cameras that visitors left unattended. For Christmas one year, he had one of those photos blown up to poster size and gifted it to the person in the photo.

That had to be photoshopped. Mr. Rogers would never flip anyone off. And he would have liked MFP.

My husband LOVES Mr. Rogers. Feels he is the end all be all for childrens' shows. I watched, but never became a big fan. My little guy, however, cannot get enough of Daniel Tiger - a spin off that incorporates all the Land of Make Believe characters (now grown up) and their offspring to teach the same lessons Mr Rogers taught.

When he was a kid, my husband learned how to tie his shoes by watching Mr. Rogers. His mom saw him tying his shoes, and realizing SHE hadn't taught him, asked where he learned to tie his shoes.

    "Mr. Rogers showed me!"

She starts freaking out, thinking Mr. Rogers is some weirdo from the neighborhood. LOL. Guess she wasn't too far off.

Ha! That's funny. Thanks for sharing.

My aunt (age wise she is like a sister to me) used to call him Rog. She learned to read early from Rog.

I loved and watched Three's Company when I wad a kid. I loved Jack Tripper (John Ritter). I talked about him so much that my mother thought I had some class clown friend named Jack. She asked me if I was going to invite Jack to my birthday in kindergarten.
