95 lbs. gone so far and a size 16

I have finally went to try on jeans today and am soo happy. I am in a size 16 a 16 I can hardly believe it. I know I have a ways to go but it brought tears to my eyes to see how far I've come. If you would have asked me a year ago could I get here I would have never belived it. When I started in August I was a size 22 and even they were getting TIGHT!!! And I weighed 320 lbs. at 5'8 now I'm a size 16 and weigh 225 lbs I have not been in a size 16 since I was a teenager I am now 30. I just hope if some one is reading this and they don't think they can do it, or they feel like giving up DON'T DO IT BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND NEVER GIVE UP. I spent a decade of my life overweight unhealthy and unhappy because I believed I couldn't do it NOW I KNOW BETTER :D

WOW, congrats! Looking at the success stories is the first thing I do when I login to MFP. They really help keep me motivated, and thinking that some day that will be ME sharing my own. THANK you for sharing yours!
  • I am so glad to see your post. I have 30 pound to lose and sometimes it seems impossible . My daughter is 23 and needs to lose 150 so I find it encouraging to see how far you have come. It's her health I worry about. I introduced her to MFP 2 weeks ago and
It really making her think before she has that McDonalds double cheeseburger . She loves MFP and even found some of her friends use it. Good luck and keep going.

good job! you're probably a pretty similar build to me. I am a bit shorter now (5'6") but I used to be 5'8" so it's like I have a 5'8" frame even though my spine has curved just enough that I measure a little shorter now. I was about 310 at size 22. I always assumed that by the time I got to around my initial goal weight of 155 (just for the sake of eeeeeking into 'normal' BMI range) I would probably be about a size 12. That seemed like average to me. Now only 5 or 6 pounds below that weight I'm comfortably in 8s for pants and smalls on top, so depending on how much you want to lose, you could be ending up there too. I'm telling you this because, I don't know about you, but when I got to about 14 I started buying some nice stuff in size 12 and tops that were mediums thinking they'd last me a good while and at worst I'd just have to take them in a little......I shouldn't have bothered spending the money, and neither should you. Thrift shop til you hit the end of the road. THEN get the nice stuff. lol.

    Misty,

I have to say, that your accomplishment is outstanding. It really is inspirational, and I love reading stories like this because I need the motivation too.

But I can only imagine how physically uncomfortable you must have felt at the 320lbs. I say that only because I'm at 338lbs right now, and I'm 6'5. Granted I'm starting to feel better because I'm eating right, and exercising more, but even at my height, I always always felt uncomfortable, in my clothes, in my skin, at work, in public, and on and on.

I hope to have that feeling of accomplishment myself someday. Again, Congrats.
