My food processor started smoking and my blender motor gave up :-/

I want to be able to make smoothies with ice and frozen fruits and a decent size food processor. But money's tight. Any suggestions?

Vitamix or blendtec are the way to go. Perfect for smoothies

I have the Ninja Mega Kitchen System and love it. Came with a full size blender, full size processor and two individual smoothie mugs with travel lids. Very powerful and very fast. You can probably find it on sale but I spent $200 and it was worth it.

Since money is an issue, this may not help, but a refurbished vitamix is a perfect blender.

You can get ninjas for $50. Those work well. I also got one of those ones with the mini cups to make single serving portions. It worked well, but I was always in danger of overflowing because I like to pack ingredients into my smoothies.

I had a single serving one but the blades were up too high to actually do much. Which brand do you have? Mine was a Hamilton Beach. I'd love a single serving one too.

My husband's gonna kill me, haha.

I think it was Bella Cucina, but I gave it away. My $50 Ninja came with a single serving blending container and a normal sized blending container.

I found the Ninja to be kind of a pain due to cleaning and crevices. I can make so much in the vitamix, even hot soups, peanut butter, and flours. It was worth the price ($300 something for refurbished.)

We just got a Ninja and it's a great upgrade from the crappy blender we had before. This thing grinds up ANYTHING. It came with a couple to-go cups and a smaller blade that fits inside them, so you can blend up a smoothie or a small amount of something right in the cup and not have to get the rest of the blender dirty.
