help a girl out!

Im a good (well not so good) 110# over weight. I cant seem to control myself.
I know im a fatass. I know my pants dont fit. Im miserable. I hate body. But i cant stop eating!
we recently moved in with my parents and my other young siblings who still live at home. im beyond stressed. i eat for entertainment. comfort. because its the only thing that is MINE. i love when the kids go to bed for the night, SO is still at work, and i can have my "me time" with a snack.
ive gained 15 pounds in the month that weve been here. i dont know what to do.
were currently buying food for both families and i simply cannot afford healthy organic foods for 9 people. so we eat mostly processed crap which is making my body feel horrible. before we moved here I cooked everything myself.
im in such a rut and i need help getting out!

First, Start using the food log on this site. If you only do that, you'll see how your eating will slow. Seeing what you've eaten is very powerful. We tend to forget what we put in our mouths, but when we write it down, it becomes real.

You know what's a great "me time?" A long walk, jog, run, or bike ride. Not only will it get you out of the house, away from the hectic noise of the kids, but exercise is also great for depression. Some recent studies even show that it works better than prescription drugs. So, you'll be getting your "me time" alone, boosting your mood, improving your health, and avoiding the binging...is there a downside?0

how about after the kids go to bed you go for a walk instead of eating. you can walk around the neighborhood, walk around your driveway or get a walking dvd and do it in front of the tv. do this instead of eating food. you can always make the food you do eat healthier. when you make spaghetti add fresh veggies to the sauce. just get whatever is on sale that week. you can do this!0

Maybe avoid as much of the boxed stuff as you can and when you can't let me tell you, you can avoid using butter in most of the boxed mixes and also substitute milk for almond milk and it still tastes pretty good. I LOVE Rice a Roni. I know its crap food, but every once in awhile I have to have it. I use almond milk and no butter, and cut back 100 calories per serving.
Invest in a food scale. They have nice digital ones at Walmart for $18 and it helped me so much to really see how much I can eat.0 -
Hey I am in the same boat as you, I love to eat ! But , wearing pretty clothes and feeling like I can do something is what I strive for. Choosing to be healthy is a freaking battle! So much temptation, but please listen, cardiovascular disease has no face . It will take anybody who is willing to let food be their life. I am struggling too,even so do not give up! Eat healthier foods that you like and start excising. It is never too late. You can do it !0

One thing that helped me was making a list of easy, non food related "rewards". I used to (and still occasionally want to) use food as a reward or mood booster, which caused me to gain 20 lbs. Don't get me wrong, I still have a treat like some dark chocolate or an ice cream bar every day, but I plan it into my calorie allotment. If I have a really productive day at work, instead of rewarding myself with food, I'll give myself a manicure or buy a new book for my kindle. I really like sleeping on freshly clean sheets, so if I have a solid workout in the gym, I'll wash my sheets or pillow cases, take a long shower, and relax in bed. The point is to recognize moments when you are treating food as comfort or a reward and try and replace it with something else that makes you happy. I still want to enjoy food and have treats, but not have it be my main reward system. Hope that helps!0

This worked for me with smoking. I used the cigarette money for other, healthier things. It really helps with the temptation and cravings when you know you'd be giving up something awesome if you give in to the craving.0 -
I've been taking nutrition and success coaching classes online that have helped me a lot. For the first time in years I'm finally losing weight. The site also has some pretty intense workouts so I've been strengthening my core as well. The site is missred.M5fit.com Its a monthly membership but so worth it!0

Let me put some positive thinking into everyone with my story I've been Fluffy most my life then I'd lose weight then gain it back I'm 48 years of almost 49 in a couple of weeks but at the age of 45 on August 21 2010 I had my first Stroke then again on September 13 2010 I had my second stroke 2 years before this found out I had an over active Thyroid lost 40 in 4 weeks I felt like crap but I was in heaven I lost that wait until they took my Thyroid from over to under and then the weight started coming back on plus more and I've been struggling with this ever since...and to an extent I was using an under active Thyroid as an excuse of why I can't get this weight off and then 2 strokes on top of this to this day I'm not aloud to over do it on my excerise for fear of another stroke Really I'm only aloud to Walk. 2 weeks ago I was watching Dr Phil and he had Dr Travis Stork from the Doctor Show on with his new book "The Doctors Diet" I said to my Husband I'd like to buy that book started thinking and of course I started using what use will the book be if I can't buy the Healthy food excuses excuses excuses My Husband said go buy the book go buy the food So I did started it over a week ago and what a difference I feel in just 10 days We can't afford all healthy food either but If you want to live you'll find away to do it budget it in your food money if you can't eat healthy for every meal just get some healthy food into your system it will make a difference and the other meal cut back on the portion and add exercise I found a power walk on youtube from a leslie Sansone a one mile walk at home for 20 minutes what a difference that made and just work your way up to her 2/3 mile walk....I'm with you I can't wait till everyone here goes to bed it's my time..I've replaced my Chips with health..they have a popcorn out called Skinny popcorn I have replace that with Chips the book tells you what he calls anytime veggies When I'm not doing the power walk I have a set of steps outside my apartment I'm suppose to avoid climbing the stairs because of my balance after my strokes so I just use the bottom step and step up and down getting alittle bit faster now and do it 50 times through out the day.What I'm getting at is don't wait like I did and end up with 2 strokes in your Medical History now do something about it before it's to late it still took me 3 years to finally got it through my head I can clever out this Thyroid and strokes by eating the right way and eating Healthy isn't going to kill your kids if anything your keeping them from not going through what your going through now....if you can't afford the book I will post for you the foods, the good fats, the veggies,fruits and the reciepes in this book for whoever whats a list....Good luck Girls!0

Do you have any cheap farmer's markets around where you live? Usually the cost of fruit & veggies in such places are more cost friendly. If it wasn't for the one by me, I'd be eating a lot less vegetables (my local Stop & Shop sells 3 organic peppers for $5!, whereas at my local farmer's market, although not organic, I can buy a week's worth of veggies & fruit for myself for $10-15- and I eat TONS of veggies so that says a lot).
Second, you need to get out of that house. Work on doing what you need to do to change your situation. How big is your family (mom, siblings, etc.) and how big is your other family (hubby, kids)? Can't you cook separately for your own family, or even for yourself? It doesn't take long to steam some veggies and bake an herb-seasoned chicken breast, to be honest.0 -

There's a wide range of foods that fall between "organic" and "processed". You don't need to buy expensive organic foods just to avoid processed crap. Frozen vegetables are cheap and almost as healthy as fresh (some even say they are more nutritious, because they are frozen before spending so much time in a truck getting to you) and while organic may be "better" in some ways, it doesn't mean you should give up and reach for Mac and cheese in a box just because you can't afford organic veggies. Chicken breast, especially when purchased in bulk, is very inexpensive, and while you may feel that organic is better, again, that doesn't mean you have to resort to some processed foods just because you can't afford the "better" stuff, you just have to compromise and buy regular, not organic. Beans are very healthy, and cheap especially if you buy them dry. Frozen fruit is pretty good too, so you can have berries all year without spending $4 a pint. (Mmmmm microwave a half cup of frozen berries and pour them on top of some plain yogurt, heaven!). Target has a new house brand- Simply Balanced, and I haven't actually compared prices, but the whole line is promoted as containing only natural ingredients, and I think they are even working towards being non-gmo and mostly organic. That might be worth checking out. Oh, and even Walmart is getting into the game, they are developing an in-house brand of all organic products with very competitive pricing, I think they are calling it "wild oats" or something like that.
I also want to add my vote for using your "me time" for something active like walking. It's true, exercise is as effective in fighting depression as medication; I give equal credit to both exercise and pharmaceuticals for helping me battle depression. In fact, when I had an injury in the fall and had to stop running for a few months, I needed an increase in my medication to balance it out...that's how huge an effect exercise has on my well being.

this might sound dumb, but whenever i started counting calories, i bought a calendar and some star stickers. Every day I was under my calorie goal I'd get a sticker. If I exercised that day I got another sticker. I used this to help motivate me during the first month because it really is tough.0
