Being hired for something other than your qualifications

No...unfortunately I haven't got the boobs for that!0

I was always told it's 30% qualifications, 70% personality and how you get on with the interviewer. Considering all of my jobs have been in a kitchen, hiring me on my looks wouldn't be very useful.0

yes despite my qualifications I was told even if I had only half the qualifications they would have hired me and trained me up as they were surprised to see a woman in this job!!0

I got my job through connections.0

I got my first job in a dental practice as a dental nurse because I have straight white teeth. I had NO nursing experience and hadn't even done the course yet.0

I did a lot of manual labour type jobs while at university. I got those on the basis of having a work ethic and not being afraid of physical labour, and because I could prove I could do the job just as well as a man can.0

no I was fat when I started at my firm, I am now however sent to most of the initial client meetings to draw them in! I like to think its my quick wit and charm but suspects its my twins lol0

No I am serious in interviews. I don't flaunt anything. Well I have nothing to flaunt at my age lol0

Who cares WHY you were hired as long as you were hired? Whatever the boss hired you for: personality, boobs, great *kitten*, whatever, it gave you the chance to show that you're more than just your package!
Having said that, I got my current job because I am literally the only one in my little town that's been trained to do what I do. :ohwell:0 -
I know I have NOT been hired because of my qualifications.
But do you think you were hired by a man because you are attractive? If yes, this is not a problem, don't stress. As someone else says you can prove yourself. If they sexually harass you in any way you can always use the job as a bus stop that you're paid for whilst you look for a less sexist work place.
You know another more common issue is NOT being hired by a woman because of how you look. I have learnt this over the years, was never a problem when I had weight on but when I have the weight off I am very petite with rather huge rackage going on there. Get to some interviews and have to deal with the kind of hate stares you get in supermarkets from angry women as you scan through a bar of chocolate (your only one that month/2 months but they don't care, you're clearly the devil lol)
Stress less and think of the money sweetie, could be worse ;-)0 -
In a previous job as a Medical PA a jealous colleague who fancied my boss implied he had hired me for being young, blonde and busty.
I was however fully qualified and well experienced.
I'll never know if I was chosen for my skills, my feminine attributes, or both. Either way I got the job and was good at it.0 -
I've been offered the job for every postion I've ever applied for.
I assume it's how I interview, my qualifications and my inteligence rather than my looks.0 -
I don't know how often I've been hired for my qualifications and I'm fine with that. I'm working in sales in a very male-oriented industry. My boss said part of the reason I was hired is because I'm a girl and guys on the other end would rather talk to me than another guy. I believe it's true to a certain extent and I've had customer's essentially back this up with comments they made.
i'm friendly, I look decent, and I know how to be a smart, strong, woman and be playful when the time is right.
I'm pretty sure my next job though will be based more on my qualifications as it's a specific role - thank God!0
