Appetite suppressants?

Can anyone recommend something good? I'm having issues fighting will power, and wanted to try something short term to see if it will help.

Many people here are going to tell you to eat at a moderate/slight calorie deficit instead of going that route. Those can be dangerous and mess with your heart.

There are no quick fixes or magic pills. If you are hungry eat, maybe try and cut out sugar. Drink lots of water.0

Yeah, I've heard that too. One of my friends was on a prescription one for a short while, and she said her heart was racing constantly. Lost quite a bit of weight though.0

This sounded to me like "She almost died, but she dropped the weight!"
It's not worth the risk. Do it in a healthy way. I know it's a struggle, but you're going to have to learn how to moderate your intake at some point anyway.0 -
Try drinking water. When I first started changing my lifestyle, I came to realize that most of the time I thought my body was saying "I'm hungry!", it really was saying "I'm super thirsty!". Try drinking more water and see if that helps curb those feelings. Also, try adding more fiber to your diet, it will keep you feeling full longer.
A note about the appetite suppressants: If you're aware of the negative impacts, what makes you so keen to try them? Are you planning on using them indefinitely? If you're making a change for a better life and health, shouldn't you try to make changes that are sustainable?

I use to drink a lot of tea.
Increase your prot is a good way to fight your appetite and also brush your teeth !

Glucomann can be helpful. It is just fiber. (No caffiene or things to make your heart race.) This type of fiber expands in your stomach. It might help take the edge off. Remember - it is fiber! Don't go take a bunch of pills or you'll have issues!! And drink water!!0

When I was on an antidepressant a while back for anxiety I gained weight like crazy so my doctor faked a diagnosis of ADHD so she could prescribe me Adderral. GENIUS! I lost quite a bit of weight but I didn't sleep and had anxiety like crazy. I guess that's what happens when you put someone on a stimulant who doesn't need it.0 -
I'm okay with drinking unsweetened tea. I may have to try brewing a gallon of it and bring some with me to work, and see how that goes.0

My boyfriend was using one that helped for about a week or two. Then it seemed to stop working. And then he ended up at the cardiologist. :indifferent: Would not recommend.0

I have gout and was told to take black cherry tablets. What I wasn't told is they can also be an appetite suppressant. I have to assume that they did their job because for months untill I stopped taking them I felt like I just wasn't hungry like I used to be.0

You could look into Apple Cider Vinegar and its benefits. I take 2 teaspoons in water with stevia twice/day.0

Forget short term!
Drink water before each meal and snack and you will eat less.

I actually agree that apple cider vinegar helps a bit. Kind of an acquired taste but give it a shot. I drink a tablespoon in a large glass of water twice a day and have been more successful at resisting snacks etc.0

Really, in the pill market, there are soooo many. Hydroxycut has like 15 different varieties alone. Me personally, I've just stuck to drinking more tea, water, and coffee...and even though water has no calories, I log it, to keep me on track.
I always start the day, right out of bed with a glass of lemon water, 1/2 a lemon squeezed into an 8 oz. glass of water......right before breakfast seems to keep my satiated.....I no longer crave that "snack" 2 hours after breakfast......
Which puts up another suggestion, breakfast and lunch ARE my 2 biggest meals.....my "dinner" is typically a whey protein shake with greens and some grapes, after my work out.....0 -

Yup I find cutting out sugar works best. Cut that stuff out consistently (NO CHEATS!) for a week (or maybe two?), and you should crave those naughty foods less and less.
Filling up on H20 definitely helps too. Good luck :flowerforyou:0 -
I am not a supporter of said pills, and agree with the majority of people when they say that they are EXTREMELY bad for you. If your goal is to be a better you inside and out, why on earth would you want to potentially harm yourself by taking something like this.
That being said, I have always found that if I am feeling extra hungry and want to indulge in something I should not really eat, I drink a large glass of water. Helps me every time, and water is AMAZING for you.
