ETA that I paid $12 for the goat cheese and cherries Jeni's
I must know about this one. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm hoping to track it down at one of the several places around here that sell Jeni's.0 -
I think an action like that would merit an automatic ban from our marvelous ice cream/gelato society. Also, I just wanted to commend all of you for not bringing Arctic Zero into this
Seconded.0 -

lol arctic zero. I'd rather lose gains than eat that.0 -
Day 1: Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core- 1 cup
Day 2: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter- 1/2 cup
Day 3: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter- 1/2 cup
Day 4: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter- 1/2 cup
Day 5: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter - 1/2 cup
Day 6: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter - 1/2 cup
Day 7: The RAM Restaurant & Brewery- Strawberry Ice Cream Cupcake (Slow-churned sweet cream & real strawberry Dreyer’s ice cream. Layered with white cake. White chocolate cupcake shell).
Day 8: Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Fudge Core- 1 cup (people stating that this isn't worth the calories are so incredibly wrong)
Day 9: Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra- 1/2 cup- I am gonna side with this one over the Salted Caramel Core...but Peanut Butter Fudge is still winning.
Day 10: Tillamook Grandma's Cake Batter- 1 1/2 cup-ish- finished it off!
Day 11: Ben & Jerry's Red Velvet Cake- 1/2 cup- I am very disappointed. What a waste of calories
Day 12: Ben & Jerry's Scotchy Scotch Scotch- 1 cup- So good I had to go back for the second serving.
Day 13: Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra- 1/2 cup
Day 14: Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra- 1 cup and Ben & Jerry's Scotchy Scotch Scotch- 1 cup
Day 15: Ben & Jerry's That's My Jam- 1 cup, punch w/ lime sherbet, and rum cake. The ice cream was just okay for me. I think it would have been better if it were just chocolate ice cream with the raspberry core, instead of half chocolate and half raspberry. I didn't get much from the raspberry. It wasn't bad, but not my favorite.
Day 16: Ben & Jerry's Hazed & Confused- 1/2 cup- Pretty good, but not my favorite. I wasn't a huge fan of the fudge chips, but loved the hazenut fudge core. So...now that I have tried all the cores, here is how I would rank them: Peanut Butter Fudge, Karamel Sutra, Salted Caramel, Hazed & Confused, and lastly, That's My Jam.
Day 17: Ben & Jerry's Hazed & Confused- 1/2 cup
Day 18: Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream- 1/2 cup and Private Selection Amaretto Cherry Cordial- 1/2 cup. Loved the Americone Dream. It was perfect for me because I love waffle cones and caramel swirls. The Amaretto Cherry Cordial was pretty good, cheap, and only 210 calories, so no complaints here.
Day 19: Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream- 1/2 cup
Day 20: Ben & Jerry's Cake Batter- 1/2 cup- As a person who loves cake batter ice cream, I was a bit disappointed in this one. The taste was fine (not great), but the texture was grainy. And so I decided to try....Talenti Sea Salt Caramel- 1/2 cup- This was my first time trying Talenti, and boy, was I impressed. Great flavor, very smooth, and the truffles were a nice bonus to an already great experience. Love it. I'm excited to try more flavors.
Day 21: Haagen Daz Peanut Butter Pie- 1 cup- So delicious. It's not quite as good as an actual peanut butter pie, but it's damn close.
Day 22: Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Jam Session- 2 cups- Because there's nothing quite like eating a 1,080 calorie peanut butter & jelly sandwich. This one gets extra points for having crunchy peanut butter.
Day 23: Talenti Sea Salt Caramel- 1/2 cup
Day 24: Talenti Sea Salt Caramel- 1/2 cup
Day 25: Talenti Sea Salt Caramel- 1/2 cup- a little sad that it's now gone...definitely will purchase again.
Day 26: Ben & Jerry's Milk & Cookies- 1/2 cup and Ben & Jerry's Cheesecake Brownie- 1/2 cup- Both were good and I enjoyed them, but nothing out-of-this-world. I probably wouldn't buy either again.0 -
I'm sorry, I hadn't seen your question. As far as blackout goes, it was probably the most bitter ice cream I've ever had. I was expecting some different textures after looking at it and it appeared good but I was let down. Just a spoonful of bitterness. I have seen that people on a different website liked it so I guess it's just a matter of opinion. Who knows. You might enjoy itDay 20 - Steve's - Banana pudding ice cream - From the first bite I was immediately surprised of the intense banana flavor this ice cream had. It was not to sweet at all and was unlike most of the other banana ice creams I've had that were simply lacking. The entire time I ate it i had to fight of the urge to go into the kitchen and use the rest of the ice cream to make a nice large banana milk shake. This ice cream would be perfect for that.
Looks like another trip to Balducci's is in order to get some Steve's. That's who makes the Mexican chili chocolate! Have you had that one? I'm really curious about it.
oh yeah, I have the mexican chili one in my freezer! i got so distracted by Jeni's that i forgot....might have to try that one tonight...
Did you do it?! I need to knoooooooow!
oh, sorry! i am so busy with school i keep getting behind on my posts....
yes, i tried it and i love it. very creamy and the flavor is spot on. It has just the right amount of spice to it, you are aware of the chili but it is not too overwhelming. absolutely delic.....the only downside is that it has 280 total cals with 19 grams fat per serving so it is kind of hard for me to fit a serving into one day unless i plan ahead. so i only had 1/2 a serving.
i have only had two of steve's flavors, the mexican chili chocolate and cinnamon coffee, but i am very impressed by both. Definitely going to order from the website one day. I'm going to avoid Brooklyn blackout due to the disappointing reviews, but the southern banana pudding, coffee & donuts and Sunday morning will be mine. mark my words!
Oh this is good! I noticed the cals and fat were pretty high, especially on the Sunday Morning. These will probably be more one-bite-at-a-time flavors for that reason. I was disappointed at the Brooklyn Blackout reviews, too, because it sounds like it should be delicious!
yeah the brooklyn blackout description sounds amazing, but since several people said it was "meh" i won't even bother with it. and of course that one is sold near me but the ones i want are not.
that pic of the southern banana pudding is killing me-i want!
Lol I have been talking about that Southern Banana all day with my partner at work. About how awesome it was. Everyone needs to try it at least once.
Bleh, even remembering what that Brooklyn blackout tasted like leaves a gross taste in my mouth. Considering writing a strongly worded letter to Steve himself. If that is his real name.......
Ok... I have to ask what is wrong with the Brooklyn Blackout? I don't remember reading a review on it and I bet it's in the old thread! Now I'm going to stalk some people's ice cream lists! Although, after a 'review' when I update I tend to take out the review to shorten it down....
hmmmm, i am torn on whether or not to try it. I might not mind the bitterness because i do like very dark cocoa flavors, however i recall someone mentioning the texture being weird and another comment that there were hardly any mix-ins. So it doesn't sound promising.
Like you, Marvybells, I am tempted to try it. But... not sure I would like it alone. I'm thinking it might be good with toppings. Aka, home-made sundae! Or mixed with other too sweet but plainer ice creams. If I see it and it's on sale, I may give it a go. But for now... I gotta make some room in the freezer! BOTH of them are full. I have a deep freezer. HEE HEE HEE :drinker:
If you've ever had chocolate cake made with stout, you'd probably like the taste. I've had both, and the flavor is spot on. I love a good chocolate stout cake. Hubert Keller's recipe is awesome. Anyway, I think it might be the hops flavor others object to - the chocolate base is not bitter.
What killed it for me was the texture. That pudding swirl, or whatever the heck it was is gummy and unappealing especially in combination with the Steve's almost taffy-like base. And the cake mix-ins didn't help. They were soggy.
uck. the thought of gummy pudding and soggy cake makes me gag.
this is bad review #3 (or was it four?) so i think i'll pass.
I think I'm going to go for it if I find it. Mostly because... I just can't imagine it being so bad! Ok, I'm lying. The thought of soggy and gummy kinda make my head buzz. Or it was the two beers I just had... either way, UGH. I guess I will see.0 -
Also, I just wanted to commend all of you for not bringing Arctic Zero into this

lol arctic zero. I'd rather lose gains than eat that.
I tried it once not having any clue what it was. Glad I found that mistake early. If you were desperate for something, fine. But for real, heavenly, oh so good it's worth it to weigh it out and enjoy it every day of your poor earthbound life... NO. Just........NO.0 -
Day 1 - Haagen-Dazs Caramelized Banana Chip (10/10). Great flavor & creamy texture. Highly recommend if you like banana!
Day 2 - Ciao Bella Pumpkin Sea Salted Caramel (8/10). Flavor is spot on, but it has a pumpkin puree like texture I didn't care for. However, very macro friendly! 190 cals - 9f/24c/3p per serving
Day 3 - Talenti - Toasted Almond (currently consuming). 230 cals - 10f/27c/7/p per serving. Giving this one a 10/10 (I'm biased towards almonds though). Chopped almonds, brown sugar & maple syrup swirl in a sweet cream base. Good mix of salty & sweet. nom nom nom.
Day 4 - Three Twins Butterscotch Pecan - Currently Eating, will edit after consumed. Heavier macros on this one... 230 cals - 15f, 21c/3p. Flavor is really good on this one. Another mix of sweet and salt. However, the texture kinda sucked.... I was expecting it to be much creamier considering the 15g fat per serving. I guess the majority of the fat came from the chopped pecans though. I personally wouldn't waste 60g fat on a whole pint again moving forward. 7.5/10
Day 5 - Maple's Organics Cardamom Ginger - Great macros on this one... 150 cals - 9f/17c/3p. I had my hesitations about this one, but damn... 10/10! Very refreshing flavor, texture was very creamy! Cant beat that, good macros & good flavor. Highly recommend this one! **Just got to near the bottom and there was a huge candied ginger piece, motherofpearl it was yummy!
Day 6 - Talenti - Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip - 230 cals - 13/f/25c/4p. Really nice flavor, very creamy. Tastes just like a Dark Chocolate Raspberry candy bar. Raspberry Gelato with Dark chocolate shavings which provide a nice crunch, but melt in your mouth since they're so thin. I would give it a 9.5/10, but this is because I still can't get that damn cardamom ginger out of my mind.
Day 7 - Talenti - Sicilian Pistachio - 210 cals - 10f/27c/4p. Nice flavor... standard pistachio flavored ice cream base, with chewy pieces of pistachios. Good balance of sweet & salty. I recommend if you have a thing for Pistachios or nut flavored (giggity) ice creams. Stacked up against the Toasted Almond by Talenti, it ranks below it. However, still a solid one overall. 9.5/10.
Day 8 - B&J Red Velvet Cake - 250 cals - 13f/30c/4p. Big red velvet fan here, so my expectations were rather high. Nice red velvet cake batter base with cream cheese swirl. Also has a good amount of red velvet cake piece thrown in for a chewy texture (highlight feature of this IMO). I thought it was good, but not worth the due to the amount of calories for the pint as a whole. My review could also a bit biased since my expectations were rather high but actual taste and such came in below expectations...8.5/10
Day 9 - Ciao Bella Brown Sugar Caramel - 230 cals - 11f/28c/4p. Initially I wasn't too impressed with the flavor from the start, but as I got deeper into it... it did grow on my. I'll be honest my expectations were high for this one but something was a bit off about the flavor. I didn't really get any "brown sugar" taste from it... it tasted more like a coffee with caramel or something of the sort...So much so that I checked the label to see if that was in the ingredients. Oddly enough there was a tapioca syrup in it (not sure if that would explain it). Sorry guys... I know yall were hoping this one would be a winner, but I'm docking points for the WTF flavor factor despite it still being flavorful. 8/10.
Day 10 - Ciao Bella Malted Milk Ball - 240 cals - 13f/28c/4p. This one delivered.... My lord! So creamy and delightful! Imagine a Chocolate Malt Shake ice cream base with crunchy malted milk balls all throughout. It made me reminisce of Halloween as a young kid and getting the malted milk ball treats. The only downside was that is that I finished it and didnt have any left
....Highly recommend this one! 10/10
Day 11 - Ciao Bella Roasted Hazelnut - 230 cals - 12f/20c/4p. This was a fairly unique one.... Very smokey taste it to (uh derrrrrrr) with quite a creamy texture as well. Compared to the other nut themed ones (Talenti Pistachio & Toasted Almond) I think it ranks below it. Also, there no chunks or pieces which made it slightly disappointing. Again, I'm comparing it against the other nut related gelato's I've recently had. I'll give it a 8.5/10, stacking it up against it's nutty brethren. However, if you don't have high standards like me, or you haven't experienced the awesomeness that is Talenti Pistachio, Toasted Almond etc. I'm sure you'll quite enjoy it!
Day 12 - Talenti Double Dark Chocolate - 210 cals - 10f/28c/4p. Nice flavor, very rich dark chocolate flavor. Also nice that it hard crunchy dark chocolate pieces in it for added texture. Pretty standard here.... It was quite delightful, but won't make it into my top 5 since I'm not the hugest chocolate fan. Highly recommend if you're someone who really likes chocolate (JOEHENNY). 9/10.
Day 13 - B&J Peanut Butter Fudge Core - 300 cals - 19f/28c/6p. WOW.... So much going on here! Texture had so many different layers.... creamy base, crunchy peanut butter cups, and chewy peanut butter fudge core. Honestly, this one breaks top 3... if it were a women I'd marry it. If you like chocolate and peanut butter, you need to try this one. Seriously... the only downside was fitting the whole pint into my macros hahaha... not recommended eating a whole pint unless you're having a YOLO day, or you have a very high fat goal (81g for whole pint). 11/10!
Day 14 - Talenti Sea Salted Caramel - 240 cals - 11f/38c/4p. Great! I already knew going in I would like it... Great caramel flavor, very creamy. Reminded me of those caramel bullseye candies as the gelato base, with the caramel truffles for added texture and a crunchy gooey surprise (giggity). 10/10... I highly recommend if you have yet to try it! This has made my top 5 along with the B&J PB Core, Maple Organic's Cardamom Ginger, and Ciao Bella Malted Milk Ball.
Day 15 - Oberweiss Banana Fudge Walnut - 240 cals - 16f/27c/3p. Great flavor and texture. Oberweiss is know locally for their superior dairy and abundance of always fresh cream. Banana ice cream base with gooey chocolate fudge swirl and salted walnuts makes this another nice balance of sweet and salty. I'll give it a 10/10, due to the variety of flavors and textures going on. I would highly recommend it if you like sweet & salty types of ice creams. It will not break into my top 5 though.
Day 16 - Talenti German Chocolate Cake - 240 Cals - 11f/32c/4p. Great flavor, very similar to a German Chocolate Cake (derrrrrrr). Chocolate Gelato base with caramel swirl, chopped candied pecans, coconut shreds. 10/10. This would be ideal for anyone who is a fan of German Chocolate Cake, or chocolate in general I feel. This will enter into the top 5 ahead of Talenti Pistachio. I also believe this to be an exclusive flavor to Target, so it's a tough find!
Day 17 - B&J Rockin Blondies - 250 cals - 15f/26c/4p. Brown Sugar Ice Cream base with Blonde Brownie Pieces & Butterscotch Toffee Flakes. This one was a bish to find since it is apparently exclusive to Target as well. I had really hip hopes due to this sexy flavor description, but I was not impressed....I only got like 3 brownie pieces, the ice cream was not nearly as sweet as I was anticipating. Eh.... I can't really say anything that stands out about it. It was decent, but nothing impressive. On par with the 7.5 I gave the other Three Twins Butterscotch. Sorry guise! I guess I gotta stick to brunettes....
Day 18 - Haagen-Dasz Bourbon Pecan Praline - 260 cals - 17g/27c/4p. Pretty good pretty good. Really strong Bourbon taste from the first bite. Was not expecting it to be that heavy (I hardly drink so that's probably why). Bourbon Ice cream base, brown sugar swirl with chopped pecan pralines. Very creamy with a nice variety of textures from the crunchy pecans and gooey swirl
... I'll give it a 9.5/10. I would recommend giving it a try if you can find it (was pretty difficult for me.. only one store).
Day 19 - Talenti Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup - 260 cals - 13f/32c/5p. I really liked this one to be honest. Some of the feedback I've read regarding it wasn't that great, but I found it to be rather satisfying. It wasn't like a typical Milk Chocolate Reese's PB Cup like I've seen people compare it too....but I did find it tasted similar to a Dark Chocolate Reese's PB Cup It was sweet, but not overpowering. I'd honestly give it a 10/10. Chocolate base, PB swirl, and mini PB cups. Like like like! If you're a fan of PB give it a whirl.
Day 20 - Talenti Caramel Cookie Crunch - 220 cal - 10f/31c/4p. Was not digging this one right off the bat, but the more I dug in....flavor got much better. I think it was the chocolate chips that weren't jivin' with me as it was a very strong cocoa flavor.Crunchy chocolate chip cookies with Dulce De Leche swirl in a vanilla base. The flavor did grow on me, but IMO it is not as good as it's sister Sea Salt Caramel Truffle. Still will give it a 9/10 though.
Day 21 - Talenti Banana Chocolate Swirl - 200 cals - 9f/30c/3p. This one was great! Banana base, melt in your mouth thin chocolate shavings and caramel swirl. Pretty good macros too. Since I've also had the HD Caramelized Banana Chip... I believe this one heavily outweighs the Haagen-Dasz both in macros as well as flavor. Pick up if you are a fan of banana flavoring. 10/10.
Day 22 - Roundy's/Mariano's Caramel Latte - 190 cal - 8f/27c/4p. This is a store brand local to the IL and WI area if I'm not mistaken. I'm a big fan of their stores in general as I do the bulk of my shopping at their "Mariano's" brand store, which just so happens to have in an in-store gelato, coffee and a handful of other counter top areas for sushi, bbq, etc. I've only had their gelato once and it was Pumpkin Spice (divine btw)... so I figured I'd give this a whirl. Macros on this brand are really good for a pint sized serving. It does not skimp on flavor either, despite the lower cals. Italian espresso gelato based with caramel swirl. Very creamy, with a fair amount of caramel swirl mixed in. I'm not the largest coffee flavored ice cream fan, but I felt this one was rather tasty. I'll give it a 9/10. Recommend picking it up if you're in the IL/WI area, like coffee, and gelato
Day 23 - Baskin Robbins Baseball Nut - 220 cals - 11f/26c/3p. Nommies! This was great! Vanilla ice cream base, whole salted cashew chunks and a black raspberry swirl. Lots of flavors and textures: vanilla base was very creamy, chew/crunch from the salted cashews, and then the tartness from the black raspberry swirl. 10/10 on this one IMO! So many flavors and textures slappin me in the face.
Day 24 - Roundy's White Chocolate Raspberry - 210 cals - 10f/26c/5p. Eh, that's really all there is to say about this one... kind of a let down. Basic/generic vanilla flavor, lack of any texture... hardly any raspberry swirl at all. Don't recommend unless you're a fan of boring vanilla with minimal raspberry swirl ;*(.... 7.5/10. It's also only local to IL, WI.
Day 25 - Ciao Bella Montebianco - 220 cals - 13f/23c/3p. Wasn't digging this at first, but the flavor grew on me. As with the other Hazelnut Ciao Bella flavor I got a strong alcohol flavor and couldn't really determine what it was according to the label... Nonetheless, the flavor grew on me as I ate more and more. Strong roasted chestnut flavor, but a very creamy texture with heavy dark chocolate pieces throughout for a nice crunch. Not in my tops, but certainly a unique flavor. 9/10
Day 26 - Talenti Caribbean Coconut - 190 cals - 9f/25c/3p. I'm going to point out right off the bat that I am not a fan of coconut so my review will be biased so take it with a grain of salt. Macros on this are pretty good, one of the lower cal Talenti's which is a plus. Flavor was fine, very creamy and obvious coconut taste. I cannot stand the texture of coconut in a high amount. The German Chocolate cake has a milk amount, but this had a particular texture to it that was kinda "grainy". Not sure if they makes sense, but the best I can do in terms of describing it. I'll give it 8/10 and only reason being I don't like the texture. If you are a fan of coconut and the texture of it, I'm certain you will find this highly palatable!

Seconded.
I do not know what an arctic zero is, and judging from the responses i hope i never find out0 -
You need to find it because it really will complete your life. Also, don't be put off by the appearance when you open the container for the first time. It's OK to stop and stare for a minute, but try not to look too closely while you're dishing it up.
Could someone take a picture of this ice cream? I am never going to see what is in this ice cream and I'm deeply...intrigued...by the hinting.0 -

The only time I can go to Publix is when I visit my bff's mom in New Port Richey. belle_of_the_bar eats their espresso chip frozen yogurt (I think that's the flavor) a lot. It's really sad that I know what ice creams my friends eat.
Actually, it's really touching that you know what kind of ice cream I eat.0 -

Day 22 - Talenti Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup 1/2 cup
Day 23 - Talenti Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup 1 cup, Ben & Jerry's Rockin' Blondies 3/4 cup... I know LBS didn't care for this as much as some of the others (7.5 I think) but mine had bunches of brownie chunks and was so yummy!
Day 24 - Ben & Jerry's Rockin' Blondies 3/4 cup, Talenti Mediterranean Mint 1/4 cup, a spoon or two of the Weis Tastykake Peanute Butter Kandy Kake... Not really impressed, no cake pieces and no peanut butter. Not a bad ice cream, just didn't live up to it's namesake.
Day 25 - Talenti Fudge Brownie 1/4 cup, Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup 1 cup... I may love the B&J PBC more than the Talenti because of the peanut butter ice cream. Plus it had so many peanut butter cups and most were whole or half cups!

It's cardboard flavored ice. Some people claim it as an acceptable ice cream substitute-- I think it's supposed to be 50 calories per pint.0 -

Day 24: Turkey Hill Double Stuff'd Cookies n' Cream0 -
The only time I can go to Publix is when I visit my bff's mom in New Port Richey. belle_of_the_bar eats their espresso chip frozen yogurt (I think that's the flavor) a lot. It's really sad that I know what ice creams my friends eat.
Actually, it's really touching that you know what kind of ice cream I eat.

ETA that I paid $12 for the goat cheese and cherries Jeni's
I must know about this one. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm hoping to track it down at one of the several places around here that sell Jeni's.
Once I got used to the goat cheese taste being in my ice cream, it was actually very good. It was very rich tasting. And they were nice enough to e-mail me the nutritional information, because it wasn't on my container.0 -
Day 1: Safeway pumpkin pie ice cream (1/2 c)
Day 2: Edy's slow churned peanut butter cup (1/2 c) chocolate peanut butter Pop Tart ice cream sandwich (see avatar)
Day 3: Queen City Creamery's pistachio ice cream (free with lunch, about 1/2 c eyeballing it, and that's a sample!). If you're ever in Cumberland, MD, you have to visit this place. They have chocolate, vanilla and a flavor of the day. I had their sea salt caramel cashew a few months ago. A single scoop is like 2-3 servings' worth. Insanely delicious!
Day 4: Turkey Hill Dutch chocolate ice cream (1/2 c) and birthday cake Pop Tart ice cream sandwich
Day 5: Forte chocolate high protein gelato. Would definitely get this gelato again, maybe espresso flavor next. 160 cals, 2.5g fat, 19g carbs, 15g protein.
Day 6: No room for a full serving, so I had one big spoonful of Talenti caramel cookie crunch (32g).
Day 7: Safeway pumpkin pie ice cream. I hope they bring this back next year. Not as good as B&J's pumpkin cheesecake, but it's a close second.
Day 8: Talenti caramel apple pie gelato (24g) and HD caramelized banana chip (22g). I was so excited to find these! Don't tell my boss I went ice cream shopping before I came in.
Day 9: Edy's slow churned peanut butter cup (1/2 c) chocolate peanut butter Pop Tart ice cream sandwich.
Day 10: Talenti caramel apple pie gelato (24g) and HD caramelized banana chip (22g).
Day 11: Turkey Hill Dutch chocolate ice cream (27g) and Villa Dolce salted caramel gelato (31g). I wasn't expecting much from the gelato, but it was actually very creamy and had a nice caramel flavor. I would definitely get that one again.
Day 12: Talenti caramel apple pie gelato (32g) and HD caramelized banana chip (33g).
* * -1.2 lbs. * *
Day 13: Safeway pumpkin pie ice cream (1/2 c). I need to use up some ice cream to make room for the 4 pints of Jeni's!
Day 14: Talenti caramel cookie crunch (~200g, I'll know for sure after I weigh the empty container). Looks like I need to make room for some B&J's, too!
Day 15: Safeway pumpkin pie (1 1/2 servings). That was the end of that one!
Day 16: Edy's slow churned peanut butter cup (1/2 c) chocolate peanut butter Pop Tart ice cream sandwich. Later tonight I'm gonna have a bite of Jeni's sweet potato and torched marshmallow. I think I'll turn the lights down and put on some soft music for this.
Day 17: Talenti caramel apple pie and HD caramelized banana chip. Probably another bite of Jeni's sweet potato tonight. I had one big spoonful last night, and I needed to change my pants. 10/10 would bury my face in it.
Day 18: Edy's slow churned peanut butter cup (1/2 c) chocolate peanut butter Pop Tart ice cream sandwich. 5 Pop Tarts left and I'll be done! I did have a spoonful of sweet potato last night, but I don't think I have room today. Kind of a carbtastic day today.
Day 19: Talenti caramel apple pie (100g)
Day 20: Turkey Hill Dutch chocolate and Jeni's honey + banana (1/2 serving of each)
Day 21: Villa Dolce sea salt caramel gelato (1/2 c), and a spoonful of Jeni's sweet potato with torched marshmallow. I really like this gelato, but it tastes more like a rich caramel candy than sea salt caramel.
Day 22: (I can't believe there are only 8 days left!) Edy's slow churned peanut butter cup (1/2 c)
Day 23: Birthday Cake Pop Tart with Turkey Hill Dutch chocolate (1/2 c) ice cream sandwich, in honor of my friend SueSlick's birthday. I'm a good friend, right?!
Day 24: HD caramelized banana chip (1/2 cup). I need to make room in the work freezer for more Talenti!
Day 25: Sound the trumpets! I found Talenti German chocolate cake last night! It was the only one they had, and it was mixed in with some other chocolate flavor. I had a whole serving for breakfast.
Day 26: Edy's slow churned peanut butter cup (1/2 c). I was all ready to make a chocolate peanut butter Pop Tart sandwich with the HD caramelized banana chip, when I got a call from a plumbing sub saying they were sending pizza to our office. Yesss!0 -

Cherry cheesecake made with goat cheese! It was rich and creamy, I remember that. It was last year when I was searching for the sweet potato (thanks to Sara), but I don't remember thinking it tasted like cheesecake. It's not one I would get again, because I didn't "love" it.0 -
Day 26 - Talenti Caribbean Coconut - 190 cals - 9f/25c/3p.
As a serious coconut fan I thought I'd chime in as this was the first Talenti that I tried after being inspired by this thread. I too felt the distinctly coconuty texture in this - which was a plus for me. However, I actually thought the coconut flavor was just a bit too muted, too in the background. It's there, but it's like it's one of the less popular girls in the prom queen vote -- not quite confident enough to grab and hold the spotlight. For me, I wish the flavor emphasized the coconut a bit more. Nice and creamy, though!0 -

ha-ha! Jeni's even says it tastes like a cherry cheesecake in their description of it and the ice cream informant said "The tangy goat cheese ice cream with crunchy, cherry fruit-fragments results in an unforgettable cheesecake experience."(http://www.theicecreaminformant.com/2012/08/review-jenis-splendid-goat-cheese-with.html)
I love cheesecake but despite these claims i was suspicious and called b.s. Guess i was right!0 -
Day 1: Breyer's Tiramisu Gelato; 1/2 cup; 8/10; strong espresso and cream flavors, needs moar ladyfingers. Would bang again.
Day 2: Ben & Jerry's Hazed and Confused Core; 1 cup; 7/10; really digging the hazelnut flavored ice cream and the hazelnut fudge "core," chocolate ice cream flavor is pretty standard, not a huge fan of fudge chip speed bumps. Enjoyable, but I probably won't buy it again.
Day 3: Went to the new market by the gym to look at their interesting ice cream flavors, but I got side tracked by their hard cider options... 330 calories of delicious hard cider later, I realized there was no way to fit ice cream into my day. Wah wah. But the two days on the cleanse appears to be working; I was down a pound yesterday. I must resolve to get back on track today.
Day 4: Breyer's Tiramisu Gelato; 1 cup. Pretty sure that Iliftheavyacrylic is correct; whoever approved the "servings per container" or the serving weight must be dead behind the eyes.
Day 5: It happened again. Went to the new market to look at ice creams; got distracted by cider. On the plus side, I'm trying some really interesting artisanal ciders.
Day 6 & 7: As is typical of me for cleanses and other dietary restrictions, the weekend really does me in. I was mostly good all week, but then Saturday and Sunday come along and derail me with pizza and beer.
Day 8: Talenti's German Chocolate Cake Gelato; 1/2 cup. Sweet Jesus. I need this in my life. Every day. It's glorious. I'm incapable of more complex thought. It's a milk chocolate gelato with a caramel swirl and candied pecan and coconut pieces. 10/10, but would not bang again. Would respectfully court and woo with the intention of marrying. Would probably get serious and say "I love you" too soon. But we'd work it out because we're meant to be.
Day 9: Talenti's German Chocolate Cake Gelato; 1/2 cup. So, we had our second date last night. Nothing too wild and crazy; we played a little Left4Dead2. I daresay the epic zombie-slaying may have brought us closer together (survivor's guilt, maybe). I know it's too soon to say this but... guys... I think she's the one. There's a lot to appreciate, but I frequently find myself getting lost in the caramel swirl. The occasional candied pecan breaks the trance, but what a way to come out of a reverie. ... SIgh.
Day 10: Ben & Jerry's Hazed and Confused Core; 1/2 cup & Breyer's Tiramisu Gelato; 1 1/2 cups. My initial impressions for these stand.
Day 11: Ben & Jerry's Hazed and Confused Core; 1/2 cup. Officially out of all my other ice creams and gelatos besides German chocolate cake. Might pick up an extra pint of that for the deep freeze on my way home, but I'm hoping to grab some new ones that I've read about. (The coffee and donut one from Walmart, in particular, plus whatever finery I see while reupping the GCC)
Day 12: Talenti's German Chocolate Cake Gelato; 1 cup. Parting is such sweet sorrow. Additionally, I went to the market that night to get more...but it turns out they had a 2/$5 sale. They were completely cleaned out.
Day 13 & 14: As per usual, the weekend derailed me with pizza, caramel rolls, and beer. I like to call these "mini-cleanses." As in, "Yo' dawg, we heard you liked cleanses, so we put a cleanse in yo' cleanse!"
Day 15: Talenti's Southern Butter Pecan Gelato; 2/3 cup & Talenti's German Chocolate Cake Gelato; 1/2 cup. The market was still running the 2/$5 sale, so I grabbed the butter pecan after securing some caaaaaaake. While it's not as good as GCC, it's still pretty darn good. I find it difficult to describe the base because it was so...buttery, but it was a very satisfying savory-sweet flavor. They threw in a generous handful of roasted pecans (also buttery tasting) and swirled dulce de leche throughout. 8/10; will definitely buy again when I want an ice cream that's a little savory, but I typically prefer chocolate and/or sweeter flavors.
Day 16: Talenti's Southern Butter Pecan Gelato; 1 1/3 cup. Had some rage-pain cravings from Mother Nature, so I basically just ate the rest of the container and regretted nothing.
Day 17: Sam's Choice Coffee and Donuts ice cream; 3/4 cup. Pretty glorious coffee flavor. If I had a cup of coffee that tasted like the base of this ice cream, every morning would be best morning. The icing swirls look downright indecent, but the sweetness it adds complements the coffee ice cream very well. The donut bits are a necessary addition; not-so-sweet and usually occurring in sizable chunks, they're like little speed bumps on Mainline-Sugar Highway. I'm pleased that the consistency of the donuts is more of a "cake donut" variety, as well. 9/10. I can see this being a staple in the freezer--it helps that it's among the most economical of all the ice creams I've bought for this cleanse (both in terms of $$ and calories), as well as being easily available at my usual grocery store.
Day 18: Sam's Choice Coffee & Donuts ice cream, 3/4 cup, & Talenti's German Chocolate Cake gelato, 1/2 cup. I originally intended only to have half a cup of each, but I ended up throwing in an extra 1/4 cup of the coffee & donuts in an attempt to get all the deliciousness in before the coming two-day drought.
Day 19: Arrived at the mountains for vintage snowmobiling fun. No ice cream available, sadly, and I did look. I made a "Cinnamon Bun" cocktail that was sweet enough it may as well have been ice cream. 3 parts Rum Chata, 1 part Kahlua, stirred over ice. ~500 calories.
Day 20: Day Two of my winter isolation and still no signs of lif--er, ice cream. Someone brought up scotcharoos, in which I indulged quite happily. Washed a couple down with a "French Toast" cocktail that tasted a lot like the french toast I had for breakfast that day. 3 parts Rum Chata, 1 part maple whiskey, stirred over ice. ~517 calories
Day 21: Somehow, someway, we made our way back to civilization. I celebrated with 1/2 cup each of Sam's Choice Coffee & Donuts and Talenti's German Chocolate Cake. ... It's good to be back.
Alright. I've neglected posting since Monday. Bear with me.
Day 22: Talenti Sicilian Pistachio Gelato & Haagen Dazs Green Tea ice cream; 1 cup each. I went grocery shopping that night and it was the first time I'd seen either of those options at my local grocery store, so I was practically obligated to get them...and then sample them...heavily...later that night. Green Tea ice cream review to follow later, but this is the first time I'd ever had pistachio ice cream/gelato ever. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was absolutely delicious. The base was sweet-savory, creamy, and had a delicate pistachio flavor, all of which I found very pleasing. The pistachio pieces were chewy without being crunchy, which I'm also down for--I don't like crunchiness in my ice creams, though. My only concern was the preponderance of pistachio pieces, or rather, the lack thereof. I didn't mind the scarcity, but I can see how some folks would want moar pistachios. Overall, 10/10; I will definitely be purchasing this again.
Day 23: Talenti Sicilian Pistachio Gelato, 1 cup; Sam's Choice Coffee & Donuts ice cream, 1/2 cup; Talenti German Chocolate Cake Gelato, 1/2 cup. This is the second night in a row on this cleanse that I actually had a full pint of ice cream, albeit different ice creams.
Day 24: Since I felt sufficiently "stocked up" again on ice cream from the weekend's abstinence, this was a beer and cider night. J.K. Scrumpy's Organic Cider, 22 ounces; and Leinenkugel Snowdrift Vanilla Porter, 12 ounces; add it all up for a total of zero regrets.
Day 25: Haagen Dazs Green Tea ice cream, 1 cup. I wasn't really sure what to think of this the first time I had it. I love tea--green tea, red tea, black tea, white tea, whatever--so I had high hopes for this one. It just didn't measure up to my expectations. The consistency was smooth and pleasing on the tongue, but I felt the flavor left a lot to be desired. I like Haagen Dazs's base vanilla and chocolate flavors on their own, and this tasted like they just added a scant amount of green tea flavoring/coloring to their vanilla. It also left a strange after taste. 6/10; not the best, not the worst, would still be willing to try a green tea flavor from another brand.0 -

I forgot all about that site! I can't say I've ever had tangy cheesecake, unless it was going bad. Maybe the review was skewed because they already had the idea of cheesecake in their head before they ate it. It just wasn't the first thing that came to mind when I was eating it. The crunch of the cherries is correct, though. Speaking of crunch, if you ever pick up Market Pantry Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel ice cream at Target, don't expect the pretzels to be crunchy.0
