Confusion about turkey bacon!

Okay so either way I don't eat any type of bacon every day. When I do eat bacon, however, it's always turkey bacon. I stopped eating regular bacon a longgggg time ago because in my mind it just became taboo, and everyone has made me afraid of how much fat is in it.
THEN I read this article today and I got so confused ..it basically says that regular bacon is a better alternative than turkey bacon. Does anyone else have information on this or an opinion?

I read that article earlier myself. I guess it's just proof that sometimes those things that appear healthier aren't necessarily so.0

I just read that article too....I'm guessing anything that is "processed" is not as good for you as the original product....make sense?
Guess it's better to eat something it's it's natural state in moderation than to eat too much of a substitute....0 -
read the same thing. I dont eat a lot of bacon so i will not let it bother me. One thing i have noticed however is that food labels that bear the "fat free" to "lite and healthy" term are usually higher in sodium than the ones with fat. so its kind of a trade off for one kind of poison to another  dont mean poison in the literal sense0

I agree. Bacon, in moderation of course, is not as bad as we think it is. After this discovery, BLT's with a fried egg on top (from cook this not that cookbook) is one of our favorite dinners. Healthy, but doesn't taste like diet food at all!0

Doesn't surprise me at all. Bacon actually is not super heavy on calories. That article was a good read all around. I used to buy reduced fat peanut butter, until a couple of months ago I noticed it had the same calorie content as regular peanut butter, just less of the healthy fats.
And I'm so glad I don't do fast food anymore. That's been the single most beneficial diet change I've made.
But to answer your question, regular bacon is fine in moderation. Same thing with regular burgers or any other product that gets replaced by turkey.0 -
Plus regular bacon is so much tastier than *gaak* turkey bacon......0

well damn... i bought turkey bacon today at the grocery store0

I guess next time I have bacon I'll treat myself to the real stuff. It's so true..I feel like every time I eat I'm "picking my poison" or the lesser of two evils.
A BLT with an egg on top sounds great, I should make that this week!0 -
Haha aww I know the feeling, I have some in my freezer.0

Umm yea... I read that article, too... about 10 minutes after I got done unpacking my groceries... including "reduced-fat" peanut butter. Bummer.0

I have both bacon in my fridge right now, turkey bacon 35 cals, regular 90, thats why I choose the turkey personally!0
