Looking for some new MFP buddies, recently Diabetic

Hello! I'm Kate and I'm 25. I'm about 210 right now, looking to lose about 40-50 pounds. This winter was so hard on all of us, that driving around to the gym in -20 degree weather wasn't always the best idea. As a result, I made bad choices. I recently was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2, and hoping that the weight loss will help with that.

    I'm in the pre-diabetic stage, which is one of the reasons I started this process. I don't want to get all the way to Type 2. Feel free to add me.

    I am a diabetic. I was diagnosed in 2008. Fiber really helps me a lot.

    I'm 20 turning 21 next month. My highest was 208. My lowest was 97. I gained 111 lbs in the past 3 years from medications. I'm currently sitting at 199. I need to get down to 150.

    I have severe insulin resistance and hypoglycemia. I'm on my way to diabetes if I don't lose weight.

    I was pre-diabetic before I had the Gastric Sleeve surgery last year. I also had other health problems as well. Feel free to add me. I know it's difficult, but if you believe you can get through this trial, anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

    Just lost almost 180 since my surgery last year and now I am 239.9 pounds from 430 pounds for a long time.

    Hi! I am a recently-diagnosed type 1 diabetic. Even when I only lose as little as five pounds, I noticed that I become a lot more insulin sensitive.

    MFP is also a great resource for meal planning and carb counting. It's very easy for me to put down what I am eating for the day and then write down the effects that meal had on my glucose so that I know whether I need to take more/less insulin the next time I have that meal.

    The Newcastle University study linked above helped me enormously. It contends that true type 2 is caused by excess fat in liver and pancreas, and losing enough visceral fat can reverse all symptoms.

    I was diagnosed in August 2012, but have successfully reversed mine. Was instructed to stop medication in November 2013 after losing 20% of body weight. My recent hba1c after 4 months without medication was 5.0 down from 10+ in late 2012.
