Do you pull your measuring tape as tight as you can or just pull it taut?

For sewing, when we take measurements, we hold the measuring tape until it is taut. We do not pull it as tight as we can. ie.. if you're taking your waist measurement, you shouldn't pull it so tightly that it is digging into your skin. I'm not sure if measuring for fitness is the same or not.

That's how I do my measurements. So it's parallel to the floor and there's no slack, but it's not digging into my skin at all.

Yep, taut, but not digging in. I picked up a Myotape on Amazon for a few bucks - makes taking your own measurements so much easier!
