I am starting this because my stress eating has gotten out of control causing me to gain extra weight kinda of fast. I also consume too much sugar, more than is good for my health I think. I do work out regularly, but it feels like I am always trying to "catch up" to the food I eat.

    Hey, welcome to MFP!
Stress is a horrible thing for any diet, maybe you can turn it around and make your diet/weight loss regime a way to release some of that stress!

All the best with your goals and please feel free to add me!

I found that exercise quells my stress much better than eating does. I try to get in a quick run or yoga class before turning to food. Good luck!

I know exactly what you mean and am dealing with the same things! I get stressed out with school and immediately turn to sugar. And since my defenses are low to begin with (feeling stressed & overwhelmed with assignments, worrying about grades, feeling down about how awful my work has been this semester), not only do I turn to sugar, I WAY overeat it. I'm trying to make myself take a step back and think about how it's going to make me feel (like if I have a test to study for and I eat a bunch of sugar, I won't be able to study because of the sugar coma that'll ensue) or tell myself to wait or just get rid of sugary foods in my house. I also have been trying to get to the gym, even just for a little bit, and taking notes to study while on the treadmill/bike/elliptical so I can at least get some cardio in and not feel bad about lost study time or lack of exercise. I'm trying to do better, but it's rough and this time in the semester is the worst! But there's only a few more weeks to go and we'll be in the clear! You got it, hang in there! :)
