Newbie here. 25, 5'2, 115lbs. Looking to maintain weight and exercise 4-5 times a week, 1-1.5 hours. I think I have found a perfect balance of food for my daily meal plan. Tell me what you think.
Breakfast: 1 cup of steel cut oats. 8oz smoothie containing 1 kale stalk, 1/4 cup spinach, 1 cup of mixed berries, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup soy milk, and 1 scoop protein powder. I add a tsp of coconut oil and flaxseed oil.
Lunch: Big grilled chicken salad with kale, spinach, assorted veggies, and lemon for dressing. 8oz juice of 5:1 veggie and fruit ratio.
Snack: 12oz juice
Dinner: 5oz baked or grilled chicken breast, 1/2 brown rice and 1 cup of veggies.
Dessert: Fruit drizzled with dark chocolate ( not daily).
2-3 quarts of water daily.
I plan to splurge a little on the weekends but stick to this meal plan while changing up juices, veggies, and salads.
What do you think of this meal plan? I think I included veggies, protein, fruits, grains, etc.

This meal plan is fine - i have nothing bad to say about it.
But think of it this way - are there going to be times where adhering to this diet 100% is going to be a bit more complicated?
Could you stick to this diet FOREVER without getting bored, without wanting changes. As long-term is where true success lies.
You are here on a calorie counting site with a goal, arent you?
I would reccomend choosing your calorie and macronurtient goals, eating the foods you like to fit that and tweaking your goals as your body changes and your goals progress.
You could aim to eat these foods every day - some people love routine - but also keep in the back of your mind there will be times this might change and thats okay, just stick to your current nutrient goals.0 -
If you are looking to maintain, it doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you are eating your maintenance number of calories. If you enjoy those things, go ahead and eat them, but if you want to throw in some pizza and doughnuts in there as well, feel free!0

Depends on what your goal is? Are you looking to build muscle? If so.....that's not going to cut it. Also when you say you are exercising, what does that mean? Cardio, weights? Be specific.
Your diet should support your fitness and vice and versa.0 -

Eat "healthy" 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-controlled treats into your calorie goal.

I've been told I should eat anywhere between 1700-1800 to maintain my weight. I'm not looking to lose or build muscle. I lost 55lb a year ago, and I am just looking for inspiration and support to maintain what I have now. I want to time my body up a little more.
I do piloxing ( Pilates, boxing and Zumba together), circuit training, running, and body toning workouts.0 -
If you just want to maintain, it looks fine to me.0

What, you're going to eat this every single day?
Why don't you just plug that into your diary and see what macros it comes up with? Try and copy that.
It's probably a better idea to just count your calories with a massive assortment of foods and use MFP to keep an eye on things.
How did you lose the 55lb? Did you log then?0 -
I lost 55lbs a year or so ago. I juiced and ate very clean, while exercising. I didn't log it online, rather a phone app.0

Looks fine and will be easy to follow. But you will get bored.
If you work out a couple of alternatives for each meal the you can have an either or situation. For instance for brekkie I mainly have summer porridge, but sometimes I have an omelette. For Lunch I have veggies or a salad with tuna or salmon or Tofu or eggs. For snacks I have a protein shake or nuts or a piece of fruit or a latte ( milk is food) I do eat pretty similar meals, as I am lazy and can copy entries day to day, but if I see something I fancy I have it, log it, and carry on :-) This is the rest of your life you are talking about, you have f to be able to stick to it :-)0 -
I'm a little concerned about the lack of fats in that meal plan.0
