You can check out my diary (but I would skip the last couple days; it's been rough).0

I'm vegan, but check out the fat free vegan blog, and the happy herbivore cook books. HH is what got me out of my same food ruts I was in, and moved me away from depending on processed convenience foods.0

You lose weight by eating at a deficit. Log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Weigh your food.

I find that many overweight vegetarians are consuming a lot of wheat, rice and potato which have a very high glycemic index. Completely ignoring the vast selection of other carbs. Wheat, rice and potato are great but they don't need to be the vast majority of your diet. The vegetarians with normal BMI, in my opinion, eat a larger array of other carbs like lentils, beans, pulses, parsnips, beets, turnips, rutabagas, sweet potato, celery root, etc. I sure do know a lot of pancake, hash brown, French fry, pasta, French bread, fried rice vegetarians. Try a week of eating everything but these three items and see if you don't feel fuller and lose a bit of weight.0

You can also make homemade seitan - lots of protein, but not many calories.
Also have you tried nutritional yeast? I like to sprinkle a spoonful here and there , especially on beans, as a savory seasoning. It has a lot of protein and some fiber.
Look at some vegan cookbooks if you find you're relying on high-calorie dairy for protein. Appetite for Reduction is a good one. I also like Vegan Diner but as you can tell from the title, the recipes aren't necessarily low-cal.
Also check out the Happy Herbivore group here0 -
Skinny B**** in the Kitch is a great vegan recipe book and I think a lot of the recipes are online. I lost 15lbs without trying when I first became a vegetarian because I was eating a lot of vegetables and fresh foods. Over the years, as I got busier, I started eating a lot of processed foods and of course my weight adjusted accordingly. lol I think the best advice is eat fresh foods, eat mainly vegetables and avoid Dairy if possible. Dairy is very fattening and I believe it has few redeeming qualities, other than tasting amazing. lol0
