Plateau?

Hi, I only started my weight loss journey one month ago. In the first 2 weeks, I lost 5lbs without exercise. I started the Jillian michaels 30 day shred 2 weeks ago and am feeling way stronger, but I've only lost 1lb since. I eat between 1100-1300 calories/day and do the workouts daily. It's a bit disappointing as I've been working hard. I want to lose another 15lbs to get back to pre-baby weight. Should I maybe start doubling up the videos? Or should I just be more patient? Thanks :)

a plateau is longer than 2 weeks. Try 6-8 weeks.

If you are only 1 month in with new exercise chances are you are retaining water....and weight loss is not linear...

    Be more patient.

It may also be you're not eating enough calories. When you eat less your body holds on to your fat because it thinks you're starving. You should eat 1200-1500 calories a day IMO. Good luck.

Can't see your diary, but make sure you're weighing everything you eat on a digital food scale to ensure that you're accurately logging your calories. Measuring cups/spoons aren't quite good enough.

And as other have said, keep with it and be patient :-)

Yikes - I don't even have a scale. I'll pick one up. Maybe that's what's been going wrong. Do you guys think that the 30-day shred is enough of a workout? I sweat like crazy but it's so short. Thanks for the help!

I had the same issue and now started working out for 2 hours to lose weight. I think instead of losing much I'm just gaining muscle which is fine. It's normal in the beginning and now on my second month I'm seeing a difference.

What kind of workouts are you doing for 2 hours?

^^^ this. be sure you are staying within the calorie limit. 30 day shread burns 300 to 400 calories (depends largely on your current weight too) i have been told. you need to have a deficit of 3500 calories to lose a pound of weight. every one looses a lot initially, do not expect that kind of weight loss to persist. you have n' got that much to loose, so just be patient, you will loose weight gradually.

your body will not hold on to fat if you eat too less, you will still loose, but you will lose muscle mass too, thats not healthy. but i am sure you have calculated what is enough for your body, so 1200 - 1300 seems like a decent calorie goal.

you don't gain muscle eating at a deficet and without a progressive load lifting program. You also don't have to workout for 2hours..you just need a calorie deficet...

to the OP 30day shred is a great workout.

I lost 9 inches the first 30 days and about 3.5lbs (I would have lost more weight if I had been weighing my food)
