Smartpop popcorn

Ok so I'm confused about the servings. I usually get the 100 calorie bags but I mistakenly got the big bags this time. The box says 3 tbsp unpopped is 120 calories and 1 cup popped is 15 calories. It also says 3tbsp unpopped is equal to 6.5 cups popped per serving, I assume. There are 2 servings per bag.

Simple math tells me to multiply 15 * 6.5 which would be 97.5, that's 1 serving popped. And I double the 97.5 for the 2nd serving (since there are 2 servings per bag). So a whole bag popped would be 195 calories, right?

The problem is on MFP app it is saying a full bag would be 240 calories. What am I doing wrong??

apparently math and reading are hard for me today

I'd go with the 6.5 cups serving of 120 calories, or whole bag is 240. It's more likely to be accurate than the 1 cup (which they probably did some rounding on, since original serving is the 3tbs unpopped)

Oddly, your label seems to be presenting a discrepancy. I would use the 195 calorie measurement for the popped popcorn, as it is what you actually ate (as opposed to the unpopped kernels). Either way, a 45 calorie discrepancy on one day won't kill you :)

    3 tbsp unpopped is 120 calories x 2 servings per bag = 240 calories

Thanks everyone. I'll just stick to the 100 calorie bags from now on haha

Seriously - I gave up on Popcorn Math and only buy the 100 calorie bags! Otherwise it is too confusing!
