Hey all. I was wondering with those with PCOS limit their carb intake to per day. I tried doing Atkins, but it was making me so sick that it was affecting my day-to-day things that I have to do. When I try doing my recommended carbs per day, I don't lose any weight.

I have PCOS. I do not drastically limit my carbs, but I choose healthy carbs... like whole wheat wraps, etc. I stay away from pasta of any kind and basically anything "white." Not saying I don't have a potato or whatever every once in awhile... but, most days I stay away from them.0

I have PCOS and have a terrible time losing weight. Limiting carbs is the only thing that works for me and even then it is still a major struggle to lose any weight. I do still eat some carbs because I feel so tired without them.
However, I found a supplement called D-Chiro-Inositol and I have lost about 3 to 4 pounds in the two weeks I have been taking it. It has also slowed the irregular hair growth. I'm very impressed with it. It helps your body regulate insulin. You may want to check into it. Or if you have any questions, just let me know. I am new to it but will try to help the best I can.0 -
Did you purchase the supplement online? I looked into the reviews of it and it has really good ones. It's something I would definitely try.0

I have PCOS and I've had a ton of luck following Paleo. I was told for over 10 years by my specialist to get on a low-carb diet but I was never able to stick with it. With Paleo, I log my food but I don't really pay attention to my calorie intake and only try to keep my carbs under 100 (ideally under 50). I eat a lot of eggs, meats, and produce. It's easy to stick with as long as you're good at planning your meals.0

I bought mine at ChiralBalance.com. Its a little pricey, $60 for a one month supply (if you take two pills a day) but if you use the code PCOSCHALLENGE, it takes almost $10 off. You can find it cheaper, but the dosage is lower so I guess it evens itself out.
I am very picky about any medications or supplements I take because of the side effects but I have had absolutely ZERO bad side effects with DCI. I was prescribed Metformin by my endocrinologist and could not take it for the way it made me feel (heart pounding, tired, sleepy, etc). I have had nothing but good results with DCI so far. The real test will be in a few days when I am PMS'ing though. I want to see if it helps with the unbearable sugar cravings.
I haven't had much of an appetite since starting this except after I work out but it's been easier for me to make better food choices.0 -
