Meal plan or no?

Hey,
Just been thinking about whether or not I should get on a meal plan. I know that if I did I'd know what to eat and following it wouldn't be a problem. But, I just feel like its a 'cheat' way to lose weight, or just achieve goals in general. Personally, I feel that losing weight, gaining muscle or just fitness in general is something that I should 'learn' about without any 'loopholes' should I say.
Just been thinking about it. What does everyone else think?
Cheers

Plans like Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig are helpful for some folks. I feel these programs do not help you learn how to eat properly, correct portion sizes, how to handle special occasions etc. I say if you do one, be sure to put in the effort to learning proper diet or you'll easily regain when you go off it.0

I agree. Part of this health and fitness journey is learning how to make this a permanent lifestyle. Learning how to plan meals for yourself is the biggest part of the puzzle. The biggest rule I stick to is eat foods with 1 ingredient (whole foods such as chicken breast, salmon, fruits, veggies, nuts, etc). This is a very good way to learn to eat intuitively.
Meal plans can be helpful in the short term, but they don't really teach you much.

I didn't do a meal plan but I joined WeightWatchers and went to meetings. They gave me tips and were a big support system. That's how I learned to live a healthier lifestyle. I lost 50 pounds while on WW and juggled maybe 5 or 10 pounds on and off. Since then, I've just been using MFP and what I learned from WW. I've lost 15 lbs in 6 weeks so far since I've been logging my meals with MFP.0

I've done many meal plans. I recently learned that I cannot, because personally, I go broke. The problem with the ones I've had are that they have different meals every day, so it's a lot more food to buy, and then it's too expensive for me to keep up with.0
