Remember that your weight has nothing to do with who you are as a person. Also, realize that if whoever you're seeing can't get past your weight, then maybe they don't need to be part of your life.

I would say 'Hi. Good to see you'.

Hi, oh wow, you look good enough to eat!

I have an odd sense of humor, and making a joke like that would help get over my nervousness.

Seriously though, if the weight is an issue for them, then you have an issue with whether you want friendship with such a person. :flowerforyou:

Personally, when I've found myself in that situation, I hide. I avoid. If the situation is absolutely unavoidable, then I just meet up with them and of course feel totally self conscious. I have never, not once had anyone say, Wow! You gained weight! I know they all look at me, and I can see them thinking something, but the initial shock of how I look is quickly forgotten as we spend some valuable time catching up. Truth is, it sucks when we have to see someone when we feel we are not at our best. But the next, next time we see them, we'll be ready, right?
