Running and the Scale?

Hi There,
I have a question and I hope it is not "stupid." I generally workout 5-6 days a week and MAINLY do cardio. I love the endorphins. Now, the last two days, I have started working out twice. I generally do the elliptical in the morning and then a run in the afternoon. I have noticed that the scale is going UP, but I am still eating within my calorie goal. I eat 1540 calories PLUS back whatever I burn. I am only looking to lose 5-10 lbs. so the calorie deficit is smaller.
I understand that it is not fat gain as that is impossible: a. on a calorie deficit b. in such a short time. BUT WHY is the scale going up?
Thanks,
Just Curious

An increase in weight could just be muscle mass as well! I would take measurements of your body and go by that as an indicator for now so you don't get discouraged. You'll likely notice a nice drop in weight pretty soon as the muscle attacks the fat in your body. Don't get discouraged though!0

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am not sure I can put on muscle that quickly! Maybe since it has been over time, though!Who knows! Thanks for the kind words!
