Jerkey

A friend of mine and I were talking earlier about beef/turkey etc. jerkies and having a debate over the health benefits of it.
Is there a way to make jerkies healthier?
What's the healthiest incarnation of it?

If you make it yourself you can make it better. I know my dad use to make venison jerky and made his low in sodium. That tends to be my biggest issue with store bought jerky its high in sodium.0

Ditto on the sodium. Other than that it's just high protein meat. I consider it a pretty acceptable snack sometimes. If you get a dehydrator they come with recipes and you can make your own. My parents got one and will eventually be attempting meats. Right now they're just working on drying up veggies and fruit.0
