what is the best snack for after a workout?

I have lost 21 lbs and 28 inches since September. I went 3 months and the scale would not move so I started exercising 2 weeks ago. I find that about an hour after a workout I am hungry and extremely tired. So I am looking for suggestions on how to keep the hunger at bay and keep that energy. Plus side to getting myself moving I have started losing again!

I bring a protein bar or a protein shake with me to the gym and drink/eat on the way out! Helps with hunger :) I like the luna bars because they're high in iron. although they're really are better bars out there!

A quality protein shake after a workout is always good.

Your blood sugar is plunging after your workout. Balance a protein with carbs and fat. A small apple or carrotts with a small greek yoogurt, or cheese with a handful of almonds, or peanut butter with wheat thins, etc.... Keep it to only a couple hundred calories and it won't blow your diet and you'll keep your energy up. Do it within an hour of your workout.

Protein shakes are great if you're lifting for your workout, but for ME on my cardio days the shake alone doesn't help my energy level. If you eat a protein bar, check the calories, carbs and protein in them. The calories should be under 200 (unless it's a giant meal replacement protein bar), and the carbs should be only about 2 times the protein. For example if the protein is 10g of protein you want the carbs to only be about 20-24g. (Again, unless this is a meal replacement. As a "snack" keep it low else in a couple of hours your blood sugar will plunge again.)
