So this is my story:
Like so many others I have struggled for years with getting my weight where I think it should be. I was always the tallest and the biggest (at least I thought) girls in many of my classes. My entire childhood my mother was on a diet and complained about her figure and I thought this was what women where suppose to do. As I went through puberty I developed at a faster rate than most of the girls my age which brought about some unwanted attention from boys and men. I began to have body image issues and soon hated my figure.....I was becoming my mom.
Don't get me wrong my mother didn't intentionally sabotage my thinking but it didn't help having someone contantly questioning what you ate and making comments about how they couldn't have that or one day you won't be able to eat something. It was difficult is all I'm saying.
I am a mom now and thankful I have boys, not that boys can't have body image problems, my boys are ok. I have tryed not to make a big deal about my weight in front of them and when they notice mom's eating healthy or exercising they make positive comments like "Mom you are pretty just how you are" or like my youngest son told me when he was 6 "Mommy I like your tummy it's soft like my pillow".
My weight has ranged from 110-175 pound (not including pregnancy weight....over 200). I am 5'6" and right now I am at 159 pounds wearing a size 12. My goal weight is 135-140 pounds. Over the last 3 weeks I have made several changes to my diet and started working out to Slim in 6. I have recently lost 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks and feel more energized. I am committed to completed this six week program and then starting Brazilian Butt Lift, a 30-day program.
As my title has eluded to, I have attempted several time to gain control of my weight and I will continue to be a wrok in progress

Welcome!! I can relate to a lot of what you said. Kudos to you for already starting Slim in 6. I've been thinking of doing that one.

It is amazing how much influence us moms have on our children. My mother had poor self image, and I'm sure that's where I got it from. I'm very cautious about what I say to or in front of my girls. I don't want to repeat the cycle.

You will LOVE it here at MFP!! Such great tools, support. It's my lifeline!

I really appreciate you sharing your experience about your Mom's struggles with weight and how it affected you. I have a 5 year old daughter and I have been struggling with my weight and I don't want her to have that problem in the future. Now I think it's better to show her a good example and encourage her to be healthy. I am 5.1 and 154 which is the highest I've ever been. My goal is 125-130. I know I can do it. I want to be healthy and around so I can enjoy with my daughter. Thank you.
