What do I call this exercise?

We live 2 blocks from the park. My daughter is 3 and just learned to ride her bike. With training wheels but she is pedaling. Anyways, her favorite thing to do at the park is the teeter-totter. She weighs 54lbs, so standing on the other end of a teeter-totter moving it up and down should count as some sort of exercise but what? She loves this and we spend a good 5-7 minutes on it at least 2 times every time we are at the park. Needless to say my upper arms are killing me.
(she is not over weight by any means, she is just big. She is taller than some 4 yr olds I know, and is big boned. She does have a belly but most 3 yr olds do.)

    5-7 minutes of that is not going to get your heart rate up and keep it up or amount to any significant calorie burn. It's pretty much negligible...

    I'd consider it a bonus and not log it. While you probably did burn a few extra calories, it wouldn't be significant enough to make a difference one way or another.

    I know it is playing with my daughter, duh! I'm a stay at home mom, its hard to fit in actual workouts. I have been trying to come up with exercises that involve my kids. Since she weighs so much I thought it might count as a strength training exercise of some sort.

    I would not log it or count it as anything.

    Had to edit this, as I read your original post wrong!

    Are you pushing down on the Teeter-Totter with your arms and bending at the torso? I'd make up a name and log it as an upper body/core exercise 8)

    Any little bit you record that helps you keep up with your own personal goals is always worth it!

    And if you're looking for something fun to do with your daughter that will help you get a little calorie burning in, try skipping! Get her a rope, and one for yourself!

    Thanks. Yes I do bend at the waist, figured it would help abs somehow. Movement is movement even if my heart rate isn't up.:wink:
    Thanks for the jump rope idea not sure she is up for that yet, she is only 3. The whole riding her own bike is a great thing because it makes me walk. Slow pace but movement is movement.
