Were the weigh-ins consistent? As in same time of day, same routine (such as before eating/drinking anything in the morning), same clothing or lack of clothing? If not that could easily account for 5 pounds or more. Other could be water weight from doing a new routine.

did you weigh under all the same circumstances? same time of day, same amount of clothing etc? your weight will fluctuate and CAN fluctuate greatly based on simple things like water retention and whether or not you've dropped your daily deuce yet ;) Here's your TMI for the day. I weighed before and after that particular event one time and the difference was 3.8 pounds. THREE POINT EIGHT POUNDS OF POOP! make sure you're gettin' enough fiber. that's all I have to say. lol.

I weighed myself before I have eaten anything / drank anything since I just woke up.
This scale is electric and said I was 5'5 and 33 years old (I'm not sure if this is going to affect my weight greatly)

Is your scale analog or digital? If analog, did you calibrate it and check the calibration each time? If digital, are the batteries getting old? A good way to check a scale is to fill a gallon plastic milk jug with water and weigh it. It should read 8 lb (plus a couple of ounces for the jug). Also, did you weigh yourself at the same time of day wearing the same clothing? At home, the most consistent time is in the morning after using the bathroom but before eating or drinking anything.

There is a chance that you are retaining more water because of your workouts, but a gallon of water retention is unlikely unless you have health issues. Most likely, there is some glitch in your scale.

ETA: my scale read exactly the same weight, down to the tenth of a lb, for a week straight. I took the batteries out and reinserted them and it has worked fine since.

Don't feel bad...I'm in the same boat, however, I gained 7 pounds in a day instead of a week. I noticed this Monday so I've been drinking extra water and eating extra vegetables. I've only gotten rid of 2 of the extra pounds so far, and because of it I am afraid of my weigh in this coming Monday since I'll still be toting the extra weight. So I'm still trying to drink as much water as possible and keep the white refined carbs out. I am going to try getting a lot of protein in too. Quick question..are your muscles sore? It's a sign of inflammation (which is normal and good in this case) and inflammation equals water retention.

nope, my legs are a bit but that`s from running I think, I`m not sure if it`is just my scale or something else.
